Went testing the other day. I’ve gone though multiple clutch combos and two different brands. I settled on a noram with their light disks and super tight springs. This combo isn’t even suppose to work till 4k. But my working theory is that this engine is such low HP that any sort of catch in the clutch causes it to engage. They do have what’s called “chatter” before the lockup. Well….any sort of chatter it seems to go.

That combo with the brake held and the gas pushed would stop the engine at 2,200rpm. In reality I want it to free rev to there then catch and go. But actual reality is the chatter would slow the reving of the motor AND wouldn’t move the kart. So it was slower than before.

So im gonna go back to the clutch we used last year with just an upgraded spring and build the motor. I bought a spare motor to build. I’m gonna take it all apart, make sure all the parts I bought fit, then put it back to stock but looser. Then gonna have the oldest build it. I’ll make sure things are torqued correctly, but gonna have her do it all.

If all goes well, the more power will fix my clutch issue and it will be win win. But likely there is still lots of issues to work out.

Had to modify the chain guard had to be modified for the exhaust. And when doing so the bolt hole I need to use was just half a hole. When it would hit a bump it would come up and hit the exhaust. So I cut off a tab. I tried to weld it myself but my flux welder wouldn’t. So I took it to my welder.

I had tore down and put back everything, just looser, and then had her take it all apart basically on her own. I would hold the engine, or help with things but she took it all apart. I got to explain things. She got to see how things work.

You can see the billet flywheel, and better head. We have some good parts to put on. Next is reassembly.

You know what’s frustrating. Setting valve lash. I can get the rocker to sit how I want with the guide plate not torqued down, but torqued down the rocker arm studs and the rocker arm is off a hair. even got the left side operating correctly, without the right side on. Torqued down the right guide, took the left side off, torqued it down, reassembled and it was off. I have two guides. I think I’m gonna drill the guide for the bolts just a little to get what everything.

Oh man. Huge update. Not even everything. But here is the highlights as I don’t think many here really care.

Old plastics, I was gonna vinyl wrap them….what we wanted the place said wasn’t made for plastic. Crap. The vinyl they recommended didn’t come in big enough sheets.

So take it to the local vinyl place, good people I coached their kids. Said the plastics were too ruff.

4 step sanding down.

Pink base coat. And took 3 cans of the 2x coverage. It’s like the plastic soaked it up.

Then wet sanded it.



Then each one got a can of sparkle pink.
Then the 2x clear with the hardener at the bottom


Pictures don’t do it justice. It’s amazing. It’s better than I could have hoped do. Very happy with it.


I learned how to change kart tires. Wow. That sucks. But it needed to look a little better.

New built engine, new tires, new bearings, new paint….it deff took off faster. But she wouldn’t let it get any faster. Hopefully with time.

Don’t think the rear wheel is suppose to do this. I even put it back and tightened it down and it did it again.



And right into our new tires. lol.

Putting it up (it didn’t have its bumper) but it’s easy to forget how small this thing is.

Saturday is the day! I’m pumped.

First this is how I made sure the tire doesn’t come in. When I blew it all apart these were here. But I just thought they were spots for diff tracks so they didn’t have to measure.




Tried to put some vinyl on.

But because of the ceramic it wouldn’t stick. At all.
