I watched another McLaren 12C go for well under 40k the other day. It wasn't even that badly wrecked. I'm almost wishing I had gone that route for no other reason than to avoid the stupid shoe jokes.
How hard is it to get parts for McLaren's?
I think I'm finally getting somewhere. It's not where I want to be, but it's progress.
They still won't address why I didn't get a CA tag or anything else. I think it comes down to lack of mutually signed documents. All the loan stuff was electronic, but that's not an option for the state stuff.
They now say they can get me a MO tag. I don't know why they've given me such contradictory info, and why nobody was able to just explain this from the beginning. It's convoluted, but it at least makes sense.
Anyway, they need the MO VIN/odometer inspection to get a temp tag. That's in line with what I found if I was to get my own temp tag.
I get the car inspected and send back the doc packet. They get the temp tag within a couple business days and send it to me. The clock starts on my 7 days to decide if I want to return the car. Once that passes, then they do the final title transfer and registration.
So I'm going to try to get it inspected this weekend. The GM chain nearby is booked until next week, and the oil change place stopped doing them. I'll figure something out.
They said they'll reimburse me if I get it towed, so at least there's that. I also mentioned that the battery is on its last legs, so I'm going to get to get them to replace that too. But that'll come later. Doesn't give me a lot of faith in their 150 point inspection though. Once I can actually drive it, I'll make my own conclusions about the condition.
I'm still pretty pissed off, but it's not as bad as it was.
Jeff's vette is still available.

Couldn't be any harder than getting registration paperwork from Shift.

I think Vira knows what to buy you for your next birthday. Some fresh "N"ew sneakers.

This doesn't make any sense. The Grand Sport he got is his attainable dream car.

But I still want it

Keep pressing on with it. Like I said a year from now, you won't even think of the issues
You'll just be out driving it in your jean shorts, braided belt, and new balance shoes, on the way to cars and coffee at 6am

Same. The chance of me randomly buying a new car is low, but never zero

Not sure I would pay big cash for a Salvage supercar either. Not sure its a solid ROI.

If anyone gets a McLaren, make absolutely sure you pony up for the factory extended warranty plan. If you can't do that, run away.
