I get to take the Baja Battery back to Costco because it won't charge... Just bought it in January

Re: Ford Escape first impressions.
It was in the car from January to June and then has been on the floor of the garage for the last 5 months. I wanted to make sure it was charged and ready to go since I'm going to start putting it back together this weekend.
Re: Ford Escape first impressions.
Good thing you checked. Putting a battery on the floor will slowly kill it. If it was hooked up to you car with a battery drain, that would do it too.

Re: Ford Escape first impressions.
Well I had it elevated on blocks of wood.
Re: Ford Escape first impressions.
I can't recommend Costco (or interstate for that matter) anymore. They've gone downhill in the past few years. Every Costco battery I've gotten in the last 12 years (including 3 after the change to "interstate") have leaked at the posts. Garbage.
I have 2 batteries I buy now. Odyssey if I want something good. FVP (factory motor parts) for everything else. They typically run 40-60 bucks for the Platinum. IIRC the AGM for the Cayenne was about 130 bucks.

Looks like FVP is for shops and business accounts only.
Re: Ford Escape first impressions.
People recommended pulling the air box and sliding the battery forward, great idea, till you realize the negative terminal is corroded so bad the bolt is frozen.
That sucked. The post was loose, I thought the battery was gonna come apart on me. What a crock of dog poo.
Took me more time to clean. Up the connectors than to remove the battery. What should have been a solid 30 min job, nope, 2 hours.
It’s done, it’s correct, hopefully it doesn’t corrode like that anymore. Why do they do that anyways?

Re: Ford Escape first impressions.
There's some goop you can spray on the terminal posts to prevent corrosion.
It can happen due to overcharging which bubbles hydrogen gas out of the battery reacting with the lead in the terminals, that can also happen just due to regular use on a non-sealed battery, or by water getting on the terminals and chemically reacting with them.

Thinking about these tires. I will prob check the forums to see if I can get a little wider, yes I still want the widest tire I can but what does everyone think about this? 80k rated....decent performance...for the price.

Wanted Cooper’s but the place I was getting them from said there was a national recall and didn’t want to sell them till he knew which were good or not.
So I ended up with these. Stock size. Should have gone bigger.

Re: Ford Escape first impressions.
Yup. I saw. I wasn’t happy either but I wasn’t happy with any picks local places had. Didn’t want to order them either. So it is what it is.

Goodyear assurance weather ready. Best grand touring tire you can get right now for a car or crossover suv. Super quiet, long life, amazing in the snow and rain.

We really like the crossclimate 2 we have on the Soul. Night and day better than what came from the factory. Amazing in snow, slush, wet, and dry. If we ever get something similar to the Soul again or anything crossover like with AWD they will be my current go to tires.
Re: Ford Escape first impressions.
Really impressed with my Michelin pilot sport as4.
Maxima went from roasting the tires on a 2nd gear punch (roughly 300whp with hlsd) to mostly hooking in 1st.

Pilot Sport all seasons are the best high performance all season tire you can get. I run them on my RS in the winter (until the Pilot Super Sports are used up) and on my Stealth year round now. But on our Explorer Sport, I used those assurance weather readys and they are fantastic. Almost as good in snow as a dedicated snow tire (they have the three mountain snowflake symbol).

Let’s not talk about snowflakes. Someone is bound to get offended.
