Exclusivity. We all want it. Nice thing im noticing about some of the pricing trends is that the Montero/Raiders are fetching more than I would have anticipated. The MM are seem to be doing well also, but not quite as well as the Montero. I think due to the growing following and limited production of these trucks, good specimens will continue to gain popularity, and increase in value.
I thought it was the 4.0's that weren't all that bad, but the 3.0's that were garbage.
The 3.0 is bulletproof but gutless. 4.0 ohv is pretty reliable but known to crack heads when overheated. Sohc has timing chain issues.

Holy poop you have given me something new to do. I don't know how I feel about the stuff in the wrong side. But love how the interior looks much better!
Good info here about the manual trans. Looks like it might be possible to swap in a Ford Ranger trans if you have a Mitsu bell housing.

http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/mitsubis ... tions.html
V6 bell housing is what you still need. Those trans are also the weaker ones found on 4 cylinders. The stronger cast iron V5MT1 unit only comes on the V6 trucks.

Good news. Wife pulled all of her cabinets out of the garage! The MM fits into the garage. Actually has the same length dimensions as the 3S's. Managed to swap out the bad idler arm for a new one as well as install new cluster, steering wheel and some other items.

Image

One of the other items being the rear mounted hitch. Pulled the bumper as they both use the exact same mounting point on the frame. I think its only a class II so 3,500#'s

Planning on driving to ID to license this weekend.

Thanks guys. I rather like it myself. Admitting I'm liking it more each day.

Less $, no emissions, and pay for registration 2 years in advance.

Coop
They do but the car did creep back a couple inches when I had it in the air. It was actually pushing against the garage door. I just threw the brick and wood under it to keep it from moving. Probably just could have pulled the brake harder but oh well.

Would there be any value in picking up the 90-93 Ram 50 printed factory service manuals?

Yeah. Did some scouring on eBay and found a few dirt cheap options for all 4 years. 90 and 91 even have the separate powertrain diagnostic books.

Ok, this thread is now specifically about Steve's Max. If you want to follow along with mine and Coop's fruitless search for our own trucks, go here:
