Same guy - Josh Swanberg - Nyteryder or something like that on 3Si. He didn't have a single, but had twin 60-trims or similar. He's always complaining that he can't get traction, seemingly in whatever he drives.
. Hasn't figured out that the accelerator pedal isn't binary.

Miss that guy. He's one I would love to have a beer with. Next time you see him tell him I said hey.

Re: My Corvette finally arrived!
Have you driven a Z51 without the mag suspension? Do you think it's a must-have for something that might never see a track?
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

Re: My Corvette finally arrived!
I've only ridden in a non-Z51 without the mag ride. I'd say that mag ride is smoother in Tour mode, and stiffer in Track mode. Without mag ride it is basically comparable to "sport", which for just driving around town and highway is a little stiffer than I would like.
If you don't have mag ride, you probably won't miss it. At least that's what people without it typically say.
It does change the character of the car quite a bit, having it.

It includes the performance traction management too. Hmm....

Re: My Corvette finally arrived!
The magnetic ride control really impressed me when I test drove the SS last Friday.
Re: My Corvette finally arrived!
Sounds like the 8L80s had some issues, at least up until Nov 2015. Anything to worry about with regard to the 6L80? That transmission has a pretty solid track record, no? Is the paddle shift on it worth a damn?

Re: My Corvette finally arrived!
Early 8L80s had torque converter issues, but those should've been weeded out by now on any car that's got some miles on it. Mine has been flawless so far. I'd rather have a '15+, especially if you want automatic. '16+ gets you CarPlay if you need it.

Mostly looking at 14s and 15s due to price. There's retrofit kits for the 2016 infotainment, so I'm less worried about that. Sounds like the 16+ systems are just all around faster too.

Re: My Corvette finally arrived!
The retrofits looked pretty expensive last time I looked. Who's got them reasonable now? I'd maybe do that on mine.
Depending on the color, take a good look at the paint. Paint quality in 2014 was pretty horrendous, and even on mine it certainly isn't great. Tons of orange peel, but I suppose you get that on most new cars these days.

Re: My Corvette finally arrived!
This is the one I was looking at.
https://www.infotainment.com/products/2 ... 1025047957
I think there's a version you can get that has Android + Apple but no OEM Nav and it's cheaper. Might have been this one.
https://digital-dash-solutions.com/prod ... o-upgrade/
IO5 gives you the new MyLink + phone support, and IO6 gives you all that plus the factory Nav with it's overpriced map updates and the need to pay for an XM subscription for traffic.
As far as I've read, it's not yet possible to enable the front cameras or data recorder via a retrofit, so that should be the "some features may not work" part they mentioned.
It is a bit steep, but I paid $700 for a nice Pioneer Android + Apple head unit for Vira's car. For a full OEM solution to be possible at all, let alone in the same price ballpark, isn't bad.
I'm not all that worried about the paint quality. It'd be something I drive regularly rather than a weekend show car. The new paint shop is supposed to remedy a lot of that, but that'll only really matter to the people buying 2019s.

Re: My Corvette finally arrived!
Hmm, if "everything" still worked (I have a 3LT, so have navigation and data recorder, XM, etc), I'd maybe do that if I end up deciding to hang onto the car for a while...

Oh, so you've already got the PDR. I think it'll still work. It's just that you can't enable it on a car that didn't already come with it. You'd need to check with the kit vendors to know for sure.

Re: My Corvette finally arrived!
At this point it's more about finding the options I want rather than the model year.
I've found two cars that had everything I wanted. The first one was before I was ready to buy, and the second one sold before I could put in an offer.
If I was willing to spend 60 grand on a car, I'd buy a Grand Sport.
