Also, you need to drive around with the hatch unlocked so you can use the other brake lights from time to time lol

The small lights on the bottom are secondary brake lights. Since the main brake lights are on the hatch and movable, the FMVSS regulations say the brake lights can't be on a movable panel. So Audi got around by adding a secondary set that is used if the hatch is unlocked.

Yeah it's really strange
You can always tell when someone with an Audi SUV has their hatch popped

We put something like 1500 miles on it over the course of our road trip. From 900 feet elevation in KC to over 11,000 in the Rockies, it was flawless the whole way.
Some random observations.
It's really comfortable. The miles just flew by. I can't say exactly what it is, but the same trip in the Mazda would have left us more tired and achy.
Gas mileage was really good. 26-ish over the whole trip. It was almost all highway miles, although we had a couple long stretches up in the mountains.
It does ride a little stiff. It's like a tall sports car. That's nice in corners, but not so great on choppy pavement. If mag ride was an option, it would have been just about perfect.
It downshifts like a sports car too. You can feel the engine braking when you're slowing down. It takes some getting used to. I like it.
It's got this weird little exhaust burp on full throttle upshifts. It sounds good and it's silly and I like it.
The windows are tinted a little darker than we'd like. Combine that with the auto tinting mirrors and it made for some sketchy maneuvers at night. The blind spot alert helps at speed, but not in parking lots for example. We may need to get that redone. Especially since the driver's front window has some blemishes in it.
The pano roof is glorious. Vira was right to insist on that.
The only real minor complaint I have is when you leave it in auto on the highway and you're trying to maintain speed without the cruise control on. It tries to get into 8th gear and stay there. So sometimes if feels bogged down when you try to climb a gentle hill. You either need to force a kickdown, do a paddle downshift, or pop it into sport mode. It's not noticeable with the cruise on.
Overall, we're super happy with this car so far.

That's awesome. I'm glad you both enjoy it and had a great trip.
Carmax never got back to me on that S4

What were you waiting to find out?
If it makes you feel any better, MI Steve's S4 just broke down on Monday. He came out for his morning commute and it had zero coolant. This was Monday. The Audi dealer might be able to look at it today.

Check Engine light came on during my 24 hour test drive. I asked to know what was wrong with it, but it never heard anything and it never came back available.
Wow thats crazy. Back to looking at Subarus

Glad she’s (and you) are liking it. Did you do any of the ecu stuff yet? Or the door lights?

We're not touching the ECU. It's fine as it is. I'll mess with the door lights eventually.
