It could be that you used the wrong dowel hole. They are only a few degrees off, so it shouldn't cause any mechanical failures. Just make sure you transfer the paint marks like shown in my pictures and you should be fine.

This really could be my issue. It would make sense too.

I took my time and think they were right. Even looking at them on the car they looked correct.

Any suggestions on making sure I got them right? I’m willing to try a different method than looking at the nearest post and counting off the stock mark.

I need a better way to figure out these cams. I have printed a picture of a single cam to hold up over to see how close I am. They look correct. But if you take it and try and line up an intake for an exhaust it looks pretty much the same. But like stated. It might be off a few degrees.

Would make sense why my car isn’t running right.

Any suggestions? Any at all?

Put stock cam gears on and see if it runs right. Pain in the butt, but at least you will know if it is the gears or something else.

This has come into mind. I just know if I get it running correctly with the gears in stock location I will just drive it.

I would rather somehow figure out if these are correct. Or even take them off and make sure they are correct and put back on that way.

But Aaron, your suggestion is the only other idea I’ve had.

Belts off and so I can double and triple check which spot I used going off of Hans picture of the timing gears. Nope, still think I was dead on. Which is gonna mean a couple things.

I’m gonna put it back to stock. If it runs right then I was wrong. If it still doesn’t run right then I’ve done a lot of pointless work that will have to be redone and still will not know what’s wrong.

Timing back to stock. Now to just add the cover/accessories/ and see if that was it.

What a pain in the ass. As much as I love the motor mount plate, if I have to do much with the timing the drivers side motor mount has to come off. Which means hooking up the engine lift to give some support.

Got her started with no accessories on yet. I always like to start it up once like that as it has saved me a lot of time. It started right up, no difference than before though. It started right up before as well.

So maybe tomorrow I will get the accessories on and possible test drive.

I have an apt in the crv at 9 to look at my remote door locks. It hasn’t been working but you can hear something inside the car click. Really hard to load and unload a baby when you have to always walk back to the drivers door before or after.

Anyone ever move the power steering reserve? I don’t know where, or what not but man, what a pain in the ass place. I’ve only ever seen it deleted, anyone seen someone move it?

Put it in the trunk next to the AC system.

Cars back together. No one around to watch the baby so I can’t test it.

Here is Jacob's engine bay.

He was runner up in our 2017 TX3S Gathering car of the year.
