I did go back for bracket racing on Sunday. The car ran a lot of 12.1 1/4 miles, right around 115 mph traps. I got eliminated on my first head-to-head. I forgot to look for the other car's dial-in, which ended up being 14.66 against my 12.10 dial. When I saw his first yellow come up, I got on the launch control instead of waiting the 2.5 seconds or so that I should've, and I guess once I realized it I lost my concentration and let off the brake early and redlighted by .238 seconds.

I completed the pass, as did my opponent and I ran 12.149 against my 12.10, and he ran 14.649 against his 14.66 which would have broken him out. Oh well... Car ran great - drove it to the track, raced all day, drove it home. Can't really ask for more than that.

Josh from LSE was out there with his C5 Corvette with just bolt-ons and tuning (headers, air intake) and ran something like a 12.89 which got him into the 12s.

There was also one of the local 3/S guys out there with his 92 Stealth TT, but he was having all sorts of funky ignition problems. Josh tried to sort it out, but the track isn't a good place to be working on a car that's having issues. I suggested that it could be the coil dwell table on the AEM, but who knows... I did notice while setting up my basemap for the Spyder that the startup cal and the coil wizard have different sets of values in them for the 3/S coils. Hmmm. I left the longer dwell of the two in my cal, though I do have a DLI on my car. ;-)

Hows your center arm rest cover holding up? It seems like at least half the Stingrays I look at have badly wrinkled console lids. It seems too common to be abuse.

Mine's fine so far. I suspect that some of it may be whatever people are using for leather conditioner. That stuff isn't always great on adhesives that bond it to the foam and such. I just use water on a rag to clean my leather, but my car never sits out in the sun for long enough to bake the leather.

The car has been great since the fouled plug problem at the start of the year. No issues, no concerns.

The city decided to resurface my street this year, so the 1/4 mile stretch from my house at the end of the cul-de-sac all the way to the main road has been covered with pebbles for the last month or so. The sticky tires on the Stingray pick up every single pebble, which sucks bad. Hopefully they'll clean the rest off soon and things will be back to normal.

Still thinking about doing a Procharger on it over the winter...

Less thinking. More doing.

Tonight I learned the Z51 exhaust sounds mean as hell, even without romping on it :suspect2:

It sure does! The initial fire-up is amazing, especially when the car is cold. There's really no reason to do anything to the exhaust axle-back. For louder exhaust people just get an X-pipe without cats, and for more go long tube headers.

But yeah, the stock exhaust sounds amazing. The active exhaust works pretty well to quiet it down for just highway cruising, too. Under 2000 rpm it closes the exhaust valves and it is quiet, and then above that it opens them up depending on what exhaust mode you have it in. I have mine locked in "Track" mode, but you can also have it follow whatever driving mode you have selected (Eco, Weather, Tour, Sport, Track). I usually leave my driving mode in Tour, and exhaust mode is always in Track.

I saw Chevy has an update for the magnetic suspension to modify the calibrations for $350. I'll probably do that in the spring. Quicker around a track, and more comfortable in Tour mode. Win-win.

A guy about 3 houses down from me has a gray stingray. I can always tell when he starts it up. Has a unique sound to it.

So what do you use for diagnostics on this thing? Will HP Tuners talk to things like the Mag suspension or the BCM? Or is the only option for that stuff a Chinese MDI clone and pirated GDS2?

I do not own a Corvette. I'm just the curious type.

HP Tuners will talk to the powertrain (engine, trans, torque management, etc) but I haven't seen anywhere that shows data or configuration for the mag ride and other systems.

Looks like the DrewTech Mongoose ($485) will talk to GDS2 via J2534.

The Tactrix OpenPort2 is also supposed to be a J2534 tool. You can get a 2 day subscription to GDS2 for $55.

Hmm :chin:

This might be an option too.

I bought their version for Ford and Mazda. It seems to work ok so far. I wouldn't trust it for programming modules, but it should be ok for diagnostics.

Will you give me some details about the Ford one? I'm looking for something to give me more details than Torque Pro with the extra Ford PIDs

It's basically clone hardware with pirated/cracked Ford or Mazda OEM IDS software. As I understand it, Ford and Mazda used basically the same software, but with different vehicle profiles.

I bought it because it was cheaper than getting one key made for Vira's sister's CX9, and the keys on Vira's CX7 are all busted up.

Honestly, if I ever get around to making the new keys, I'd be happy to send it to you so you can see if it's what you want.

That would be amazing, I've seen what the IDS is capable of in a YouTube channel I follow. It would really open up the information for me on the Explorer or even my dad's Expedition.

The same kit should work with your Miata too. You'd just need to have separate virtual machines or hard drive partitions.
