Re: 2001 gmc sierra 2500 slt
From where we had work done on the ramp and been a couple years I wanted to get some river sand and put it down at the beach. The avalanche they would only give me half a scoop and while the avalanche did it…..it didn’t really like it. Especially the brakes. Really should have put it on a trailer.
Well today I took the gmc. Got one of the HF things to pull stuff out of the bed. Watched a bunch of YouTube videos. Main thing I got is that if you have a real spray in bed liner then put down a tarp first. I did that. Then I had my dad slowly drive the truck while I cranked the handle. Worked so nice. I was pleased.

Man you can’t even tell there is around 1,100-1,500 extra lbs in the bed. And that 8.1 didn’t even care. Didn’t even flinch, would even speed up going up a couple steep hills on the way back. And the brakes going down the driveway were sooooo much better.
Don’t have any of it unloading but it took all of 3 mins to roll forward and crank. Then 45 ish mins to rake out how I wanted. It would have taken me forever to just shovel it out and with the tarp under, I just pulled the rest out, I don’t think any sand is in the bed at all. It was amazing. The avalanche I would have been hosing out when done!

Nice. I've heard good things about those little conveyor belts. With how steep your driveway is I'm sure you felt more secure with the 3/4 tons capacity and braking. Real question though...did it have lockers?

Re: 2001 gmc sierra 2500 slt
Funds have been set aside for an e locker for the rear. I’m just honestly debating it. I want it. I want it bad. Lol. But I think I should get a little more in reserve before I buy something very pointless.

With the conveyor thing, if your tailgate has a big plastic lip at the top, the avalanche did, it will not work. Unless you take that off. So while it was super helpful, it deff is not one truck fit all.

Been taking the family and kart stuff in the truck. It’s through the hills of TN and NC. Not a lot of weight as kids and wife don’t weight much and neither does the kart but it’s not empty. Averaged 12.7 by filling up before I left and then same gas station when we got back. I’m not mad at 12.7 at all.

Meanwhile my F150 got over 18mpg towing a little trailer with a fridge in it
Re: 2001 gmc sierra 2500 slt
Eh. You paid a lot more to do so.

Re: 2001 gmc sierra 2500 slt
True but I'm also pretty sure my truck and little trailer are still shorter than your truck lol
Re: 2001 gmc sierra 2500 slt
4x the price, 800 lbs lighter and 20+ years newer. It damn sure should do better.
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

I do hate the size. I got stuck in a chick flia parking lot this weekend when the wife wanted a clean bathroom on the way home. I had to get out and check to make sure I wasn’t gonna hit anything. Really need some cameras.Chris GTO TT wrote: ↑Mon Sep 15, 2025 1:08 am True but I'm also pretty sure my truck and little trailer are still shorter than your truck lol
But I’m using it all. I could have fit the stuff in a shortbed but it would have been tight. I got the kart, ramps, a tub, 4 chairs, pop up, a cooler, and the toolbox.

Nope. Good with what I got. Wish it were a shortbed but I’m gonna keep rocking it.

Re: 2001 gmc sierra 2500 slt
Had the coolant flushed. It had green coolant in it and it wasn’t suppose to. Plus I had no idea how old or what mix it was. It was fine last winter but after having the wife’s coolant flushed I figured I should do this. They put it back to the orange and I got to stand and watch them do it. Pretty cool machine. Sucked the hoses flat as could be. Got out basically all coolant. Then forced in the (well sucked in with the vacuum pulled) new coolant. 89 bucks isn’t bad to not deal with it at all.
Did notice my lines going into the trans cooler are leaking a little. I need to see if I can tighten the adapter some. But other than that, after all the trans fluid and flashing, it does feel good to drive. Shifts nice and everything.
I think I’m gonna change the climate control module. Sometimes after about 30 mins of driving it’s like my ac just goes somewhere. Also, today I had like no heat (windows were down) till I put it on the hot hot spot instead of 82. I just think after the abs module, and the trans module, it wouldn’t hurt.

This popped up last night.

So I promptly went and bought it.

Now just need to find time to instal it.

Well went to instal last night in the dark. Ran into problems. Obvious it’s not for my vehicle but it’s close enough. Little adjustments and for 200 I’m thrilled.
