You get to park that at the fire house?
No. I keep it in the trailer, and take it to work, unload it, work on it, then load it up, and take it back to the in-laws. But with it getting cold I can’t pull the fire engine out, so prob gonna have to take it to the house.

Ordered a leakless kit to turn my water pump into that, a new fan, exhaust gaskets….apparently the rear can sag and you will never get it right again. I don’t want a new one. I like this one. It may get welded up and redone. Lol.

Happy thanksgiving from the firehall guys!!!

Had to take the hood off to get the water pump off.

Water pump off
Image

If you look close you see where they pressed the fan blades together and it can come apart and hurt people.

Image

Exhaust off for new gaskets.
Image

Just a small leak on the end honestly isn’t bad but I will make it all flat and redo it.
Image

It’s hard to tell but not only did two of the 4 studs come out, but one is one size smaller nut than the others.

Waiting on parts to rebuild the water pump and gaskets to do the intake and exhaust.

Going back together.

This is pre zerk fittings. It was a spring and flat piece. Pretty cool honestly.
Image
This is what they sent me to replace it. Um no. First there is still shavings in it and second, no spring or anything.

Back together.

It’s hard not to sandblast and paint. But I know it would just take away from what it is. So much is untouched. It really was more fun than I thought it would be.
That is really, really cool, Coop. Congrats :D
I drove it around the station 3 times. Shut it down, add fuel, start up, go again. Well it got dinner time….stopped for 2 hours. Went to start it back up and it wouldn’t. It eventually sputtered, but it’s done this before and we don’t know why. Don’t know if I should let it run out of fuel if sitting for that long…..don’t know if it’s some sort of vapor lock, or what. It’s frustrating though. Makes me worry when it does start to drive that I will drive it somewhere and then be screwed when I need to go home.

But thank you!

It went from being an unmoving garage decoration for however decades to moving under its own power in the brief time you've had it. That's a win by any reasonable standard. You'll figure out how to make reliable enough given a little more time.

So, it hasn’t leaked any engine oil. I havnt checked the trans or rear but I’m sure once I have to fill them then it will. I’ve been looking at garage mats to put down under it in the trailer.

I will. I want it drivable by warm weather. I think it’s doable. I need to find something harsher to clean out the gas tank quicker.

The old and new lower radiator pipe

Little paint booth

Love the drain valve
Image

Little info about the “A”
Image

I thought mine was an early 30’s as only in early 30’s did they do this extra metal strip on the fenders. This info about the valve just adds to that.

Image

Tomorrow I take the model A in and hopefully finish up the coolant system.

Gonna focus on the gas tank tomorrow as well. Because after that all I need to do is the trans and rear end fluid and tires.
