Seriously…buy a hitch tightener.
Bought one. Something that bugs me. Shouldn’t it go on top? Since all the weight of the trailer is pushing it down? Not holding it up the entire time? Am I missing something?

You want it on the bottom so the U bolt pulls the receiver down to the bottom of the hitch.

Since there is stuff I needed some sort of lock. These shackless locks seemed to be hard to break into. But instead the cyl got stuck. No reason why, it will move all around. Lots of angles. But it’s stuck. I would have taken out the bolts from the other side but don’t have my tools. Just another thing.

Don't you have a powder coating setup and oven? That would be best long term.

Haha. That’s the first thing I thought of. It would be ideal. My oven is super tall, like I can stand in it. But these things are taller than me. Soooo I can’t.

Then just spray with a good lacquer spray paint. Rustoleum or Krylon both make some good ones.

This is probably your best bet. Get one of the DIY kits so you can repair it later when it gets damaged.

Less than 2 weeks before I head off on this journey. Damn. Getting excited but also stressed.

Going to take the trailer into work Monday. We have our practice PT but I just want to get the rear lock unstuck, mount the ramps, mount the wheel stops, and that’s pretty much it.

Still need to get.
A cheap drop hitch so I don’t have to take this expensive one all apart and back together for their driveway.
Cut up some wood to take with me for their driveway.
Another strap for the wheel stops.
Secure the jack somewhere

What all sucks is I know I will forget things. Just hope it’s nothing to crazy.

Just don’t forget to put the car in gear and apply the brake (if that’s possible)

There is an ebrake. No idea the state of that. I’m guessing it should be in R and not 1st? Or does it even matter?

I typically do 1st but I've heard arguments for R as well.

Ramps mounted, wheel chalk mounted to the metal subfloor. I need something other than carriage bolts to bolt them down. I will get those tomorrow and then bolt them down sometime. But it’s basically ready to go.

Ask me how much my wife likes this in her driveway. Go ahead. Lol. The trailer 3 wheeled at one point and it scraped the driveway. I had the avalanche in 2wheel low and locked in 1st.

Good thing I wanted 10 lockers and 18:1 gears. Lol. No I’m not stuck.

Long ago I bought something that stops the front hubs from locking in. It’s very handy on concrete when turning but wanting the low gearing. I use it with putting the boat in the garage. It’s not an option but it was like 60 bucks, some relays and plug and play.
