Looks like it's a toss up between the wildpeaks and geolanders depending on what website you check out and what exactly you need. I'll see what prices are when I go to buy and go from there.

After lots of research I think I might end up with the Wildpeak A/T Trails. Only 3 lbs more than the Geolanders but look like they have better tread for snow and light off roading.

Also $30 cheaper per tire.

Now that I have a wheel/tire combo I am debating if I want to do the lift or not. It is not that expensive would would give me some better departure and approach angles as well as break over angle. Works by putting a spacer between the subframe and body in the rear so ground clearance won't increase that much there, but overall it would offer some more.

Trying to decide if I like these or not. Price is good since on closeout.

IMO it's too similar to the stock Wilderness wheels

Whole reason I am even looking at aftermarket wheels is to easily swap on the factory tires should it need to go in for warranty work.

Keep going back and forth on if I should keep factory wheels and put on new tires or get new wheels as well. Would be getting 5 of each so it's another $1500 just in wheels. But would make swapping easier if needed.

I only would if you wanted a certain offset or size that you couldn’t make the tire do on factory wheels. Just my thought.

Factory wheels work. Just like the looks and ease of going aftermarket.

So did some offset research. Factory wheels are 17x7 with 48 mm offset. The ones I would get are 17x7.5 with 35 mm offset.

Currently has 225/65/17 tires. Want 245/65/17.

Apparently oem might work but the aftermarket will guarantee fitment with the larger tires. Basically keeps the space behind the tire and the car the same.

Nice! There are tire calculators out there to tell you if you wanted to still
Look farther.

Might actually get the lp2 instead of lp1 wheels. Lp1 looks better but lp2 is $60 cheaper per wheel on tirerack.

Research is saying the bigger tires won't fit in the spare compartment. Looks like I'd need to add in the cost of a spare tire carrier as well. Either a hitch mounted one or a roof rack with a spare mount. Between tires, wheels, carrier, lift, etc this is getting expensive. Lol. Probably looking at more than what it would cost to buy Steve's truck.

Still eyeing the wildpeaks. Might end up going with the AT3W instead of the trail. Same weight and would give better offroad traction. Buddy at the gym has them on his and swears by them.

That said, the 245/65/17 apparently don't fit in the wheel well unless I drop PSI to like 5, and even then it might not.

Still can't decide if I want the LP1 or not. I am leaning towards just keeping the stock wheels.

I will need to get this though to carry the full size spare : https://www.rigdsupply.com/products/rig ... -multi-fit

Also looking at this as a possibility. Less pricey as the LP kit, only gives about 1.25" lift but would then look like regular 2" lifts. Also uses different springs that way when loaded up with camping gear and all my stuff will help with ride quality. They are also based right down the road: https://get-primitive.com/lift-kits/801 ... t-kit.html

What do mean 245/65/17 don't fit right? Everything I've seen says they fit fine on 15+ Outback especially with a lift.

Primitive makes good stuff and are a great company!

In the spare wheel well in the back. Full size spare that's in there now is about the max.

I can't remember. Do you have a roof rack, or just rails? Could you put the spare on the roof somehow?
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

Rails with cross members and a box. Could buy a rack but then wouldn't be able to carry my box or if I get a roof tent. It's the cheaper option but less convenient.

Strut tower brace. Worth it?

https://shop.namelessperformance.com/st ... els-trims/

One of my fellow gym goers put one on his ascent and swears by them. Has put them on all his subarus. Quick Google search shows pretty positive reviews as well.

As someone who likes to drive a bit faster and harder than most I'm wondering if the $200 is worth it?

Also will be getting the primitive kit which includes stiffer springs, which will be great because I like to load this thing up a lot too.

It's been awhile since I've been under the hood on our 16 but IIRC the strut tower is basically part of the firewall. A brace might have some impact but it's effectiveness is limited.
