Yes but an AWD low range would do the same thing you're looking for... Doesn't have to be 2wd to accomplish your goal.

He's just gonna have to put those 5.13 gears in.

I could gear mine down (4:10 to 4:56) by swapping in a set of 5cyl gears.

But I don't wanna. :p

Why stop there? Do they make a 10.26 gear ratio?!

4:10’s would wake that truck up! You only lose about 300rpm.

I already have 4.10s. The 5 cylinder is the shorter ratio.

I thought I was really going to miss having an orange one. I will, but this silver is really starting to grow on me.

It's going to be an interesting weekend. Yesterday I got the fuel pump, evaporator core, and a couple other things, along with all the registration paperwork from the dealer. So hopefully it'll be a productive couple of days.

I'm already liking the roof rack and bumper. We threw the kayak on top of it to take to the lake yesterday. It's a lot easier to load when you can walk on the top of the truck. I can also climb up on the bumper to tie down the front of the kayak.

The tires are gonna have to go though. Besides the noise, I swear I can feel the sidewalls moving around on the highway. It's does not inspire confidence.

You had me looking at these are a replacement for the XJ.

I like the silver more than the orange.

As for tires, you should be fine with a good set of all terrains. I think what you have right now is the same brand as the ones I have on the truck. Not great and want to swap out for my BFG AT KO2 I have on the XJ. Goodyear Wranglers and KO2 are both great all terrain. They will do 90% of what the mud tires will do but be 90% better on road as well.

Side walls moving? Like a flat spot in the possible 10ply tires? Or what?

It's kind of tough to describe. It's like the tires feel like jelly when you make lane changes at highway speeds. You move the wheel, there's a slight delay, then the truck moves. You complete the lane change, and you feel the body keep moving for a split second until everything lines up again. Same with sweeping turns. It's like there's a slight spring effect during yawing motion.

There's also an on-center dead spot in the steering, so that's not helping. The orange one doesn't have that.

We're going to keep the Ironman tires for now. We're on the lookout for a good set of used wheels. TRD actually makes some really good looking rims in the right sizes, and they're generally pretty affordable. We'll get some wheels and then a set of new or good used BFGs.

Not sure about yours, but I had a pretty bad on center dead spot. Adjusting the steering box really helped. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akcikLT-1SE

Not that it matters, but Mitsubishi and Toyota trucks share the same bolt pattern.

I'm aware. I might see if the Max wheels will fit, just out of curiosity. The H3 needs a big center bore, and there are issues with clearing the 4-piston calipers.

Good info!

The bfg tires are what I’ve been looking for as well. I’m gonna get a slightly used set. They are all over the place around here, just gotta get the right size.
