Re: My Corvette finally arrived!
Finally had the first problem with the Stingray. Weather has been in the 50's and 60's up here, which is crazy for February. I took it out for a drive and about a mile from my house it started misfiring on one cylinder. The ECU freaked out about it and threw codes for the misfire, the stabilitrack system, and the rear diff. Go figure.
I hooked up my HP Tuners (thanks Hans!) and the only code I could get was misfire in cylinder 2. Pulled the engine side cover off, coil cover, and played with the plug wire to see if it was loose and the coil plug - both were good. Couldn't really get down in there without taking more apart, and the car is still in warranty so said screw it and put it back together.
Limped it to the dealer about 18 miles away. Replaced the cylinder 2 spark plug, which solved all the issues. Also had them do the airbag ECU software update (recall), any other software updates that are available, and the free oil change.
I do have a local dealer right here in my town, but I've NEVER seen a Corvette in their lot or on their showroom floor so I don't trust them to work on it... Probably a good choice. The dealer I went to had 5 Corvettes on the lot, 2 of them were Z06, one even in the right color. If it was the 8-speed auto instead of a manual, I might've been tempted to talk about a trade.
Drove it home today, and smiling the whole way.
Probably time for some mods. Thinking Procharger with the vertical mount intercooler. Just 92 octane tune as I don't want to deal with methanol yet.

Re: My Corvette finally arrived!
Every time I think about getting a C6, I see that the Stingrays are getting lower and lower...
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

Re: My Corvette finally arrived!
IMO, the C7 is a vast improvement over the C6. Interior for sure. If you get the goodies (Mag ride, electronic rear diff, Z51) the handling is pretty amazing. I'd like to drive a Grand Sport with the wider tires to see what the difference feels like.
I'd like to switch to a C7 Z06, but the money difference probably isn't worth it, hence the Procharger route. The only thing I'd be missing is the wider tires of the Z06 and a powertrain warranty, as far as I can tell. Mine's probably worth about $50k on trade, a Z06 like I'd want set up would be around $95k. Ouch!

Re: My Corvette finally arrived!
I was shocked at how many Z06s Carmax has. As of right now, they've got 14 Z06s in stock nationally. 10 of those are C7s. The cheapest one is 70k.
I'm guessing they're all just lease trade ins. But I'm still surprised at the availability of them.
About the only reason I'm considering a C6 is because it's not a nice as a C7 would be. I'd be more likely to have fun with it.

The Z06 is kind of a beast. Not for everybody... Not for the old men who typically own Corvettes.

Re: My Corvette finally arrived!
I was customizing a Z06 on Chevy's website around the time you bought yours. They make it very easy to rack on the charges. The looks of the C7 are amazing both inside and out. My problem is im a Mopar guy at heart, so the Challenger Hellcat screams at me. I know tech wise its behind, but it would be one hell of a daily to open up on the regular.

Re: My Corvette finally arrived!
For the last few days, there's been a blue Charger Hellcat at the repair shop across from work. It sounds mean as hell. I'm not sure if they put an aftermarket exhaust on it while it was there, but damn, it sounds good.Steve wrote: My problem is im a Mopar guy at heart, so the Challenger Hellcat screams at me. A hellcat is something I deff want at some point in my life. There are two in town and I've watched one lay a football field of tire marks on the road.

Reminds me of a recent Grand Tour episode.

Rocks/grit/sand was beating the F out of the lower door sill paint, so I put on a set of Weapon-X carbon fiber rocker blades. They turned out great!

Looks nice. Is it made entirely from carbon, or is it a factory piece with a carbon overlay?

Re: My Corvette finally arrived!
It appeared to be a molded fiberglass piece with a carbon fiber overlay. I had to elongate one of the bolt holes in it, and the drill shavings were what I assume to be white fiberglass flakes. Flat black on the bottom, so they probably painted it or used some sort of black resin on it.

Re: My Corvette finally arrived!
I took it to the dragstrip again today... 12.019@115.68. That one was with a 1.951 60' and later I ran a 1.880. If I can just put the two together it is in the 11's bone stock with stock tires. I'm probably going to drive it out there again tomorrow morning. It is an eliminations day, so you get three timed passes in the morning and then it is eliminations in the afternoon. Hoping the cool air in the morning with better launch technique now might result in a high 11. I guess we'll see...
Drag radials would help.

Some other cars:
'17 Camaro SS coupe: 12.5s
'17 Dodge Challenger Hellcat: 11.7s
Different Hellcat with a HUGE shot of NOx: 9.8 @ 154 (got warned for no cage, had to disable nitrous and then ran mid 11's.)
'15 Camaro ZL1: 11.8s
Me vs. EVO 8 on a hot-lapped pass: 12.292@113.92 vs 12.860@106.99
When I was loading the car back up, I realized I left the front license plate on that covers about 1/3 of the front grille. That'll be coming off for tomorrow for sure...

Damn. I remember when times like these were only seen on heavily modded cars. The golden age of horsepower is now.
