Last time it was out it didn’t want to idle without some choke and thus a raised base idle. This made it harder for her to brake and also didn’t want to accelerate to get going. Once it got going it was good…except for the stopping. It’s a pretty crappy day so I thought about having her go drive. But it’s gonna get high 80’s and just be muggy. So I prob will not. But while I still wait for the clutch for my car I figured I would address the karts issues.

One, it says to lube the clutch every hour of use. Well….I hadn’t had an hour yet. But I also didn’t lube it to start with. This was prob the problem. But I also didn’t like how last time I tightened the motor somehow it pulled the slack out of the chain. It still spun freely but not a lot of slack. So I gave it some more.

I also tried to fix a side piece from hanging so low but I couldn’t get it how I wanted. Need to try a different approach.

For those curious. She has to watch an event. Then she will go first before anyone on the next one. I’m gonna take everything to make sure it’s all good and I don’t need to change anything before she does race.

He is gonna send me the track they are gonna use Monday. I will mock it out. So she gets the idea of cones. This was just me getting the cones and playing around. Lol

The course Sunday. Not that she gets to drive this one but it’s good to lay it out. Practice it with a model car, then go walk it, and watch others.

Hah that is cool! We actually do something similar for Beth when she is riding courses - she has no sense of direction and needs to visually memorize things like this.

I’ve watched enough autocross that even grown adults mess up on the course. Just trying to make it as smooth as possible.

Eating lunch from leaving. Glad I took the kart. It needs a kill switch on the steering wheel. I don’t remember seeing that on my check off. Also he didn’t like my throttle stuff. He said it’s fine for now but I will have to address it if I wanna go faster.

She also needs to be able to lock up the rear wheels so I need to address the brakes some. It honestly will not go fast enough to lock them up before it stops. So as long as the brakes can over power the engine it’s okay.

So a little work to do. But there is only one more race next month. It’s both sat and Sunday. We are gonna try to do both days as the. It’s done for the year.

Adjusted the brakes and bleed them. That tightened them up a bunch. Now I need Bella to sit in it and see if she can smash them.

Turned the steering wheel around as they pointed that out to me. lol. I didn’t mount it.

Then took out the gas bottle as it leaked and was just not needed.

Got the one side to not flop AS much. Still flops some.

Still need to mount the kill switch on the steering wheel. Need the driver for that as well. It was said that it’s easy to hit. So hit so I need it out of the way but still able to get to.

I remember something about a brake safety wire. I need to check on that.

Mounted the kill switch. Now need to wire it in.



I need to put a safety wire in the bolt that goes in between the brake pads. I might need a bigger bolt.

Added the kill switch. Gonna practice today with everyone on. She needs to lock up the brakes. She needs to know when and how to use the kill switch.

This is how the current kart front bumper attaches. It has special locks that hold it there. But it’s too low. Always scrapes.



Wife asked me to raise it. I was gonna wait till next year. But I go look at the other kart and it has this.



Hard to see but it is drilled and a bar added above to raise the whole bumper higher. So I stole that. Also stole a brake pedal that gave about an extra inch more for her to reach.

Still need to drill and safety wire the brake bolt then add the camera stuff.

Safety pin for this bolt. Even though it’s a locking nut. Even though the bracket to caliper bolt doesn’t need one. We losing brake pads out here people. Brake pads!!!!

Stupid. But this was in on my list of stuff and I thought they wanted an extra brake cable. Nope. This.

Needs more camera mount. But let’s make it super secure.

Suppose to be good for like 45mph.

Also the whole back was filled with little weights. This thing was seriously raced. Lol.
