We're getting rid of my Mighty Max so we can park the SQ5 in the garage.

I guess that means it won't be driven much either.

OR, since it's getting cold (eventually shitty) out, the VR4 goes behind the vette, and the H3 behind the VR4...and I get in my CLEAN car to go out. :ick:

It won't be much of an issue since I won't be driving the Corvette in the dead of winter. We can just stack the VR4 and H3 behind it outside. But there's gonna be some musical chairs outside that season.

Which is funny since I hate alpha-numeric names. I memorize mine, but when Jeff rattles off alpha-numeric car names in a row I get all mixed up.

What does the warranty not cover?

Wear items. They paid for every other complaint on my S5. There's a couple things I ended up doing myself that they would have covered as well.

We were really just looking at it as catastrophic failure insurance. That doesn't seem to happen on these. It's got 60k miles, so I'd think any real defects would have shown themselves already.

Anything less than the deductible I'll do myself.

We had it on the Mazda and never used it. The power steering pump was just starting to make a noise at the tail end of the warranty. I ended up doing it myself for $70-ish.

Same thing with the Corvette. I had a pinhole in the radiator. Swapped it myself over the weekend because the part was less than the deductible. At this point I'm just looking at it as insurance for the engine or eLSD.

Generally speaking these things tend to not pay off. It's how they make money for the sellers. The massive upfront coat on the Audi really makes me say "nope"

There is also a 100k warranty for $3,200...

Jeff points out that we put only 60k miles on the Mazda in 7 years.

Warranty for 40k miles? But of course...could have more problems after 100k...and then you only save $800 on insurance.

Ugh.

It's the $500 deducible the bugs me.

Need $800 worth of work? You put down $500...and now have paid $4500 (total) for $800 worth of work.

I don't think I would own an Audi or BMW out of warranty.

That's where I was at until I saw the cost of MaxCare. $6k outlay on something that may or may not go wrong is a rough gamble

Yeah, there's a reason those warranties are that expensive.

Like my buddy's X5 M that broke a timing chain guide or something just out of warranty and fucked the whole motor and turbos and everything. $6k sounds like a bargain.

Same buddy also had a few Audis and seemed to always be complaining about electrical problems and such. The last time I rode in his S5 the dash was lit up like a Christmas tree with warning lights and the door locks didn't work right.
