The MPG and throttle response were what got me. Looks like we could also have it adjusted to fix the speedo for the bigger tires. Right now it reads about 7-8 mph low.
It's not anything we'll do right now. We might downsize the tires to stock. Who knows? We'll see how we like it once we're through winter and then decide.

No shame in a tune that nets better throttle response, mpg and power. Sounds like a no brainer.

Our performance tuning for the 2006-2012+ Hummer H3 typically yields 10-14hp and 1-3mpg

I get the "driveability" aspect. But in my experience, from the few cars I had tuned, the improvements have not been worth the price alone when you can do other things to improve it (tuned the GTI - worth it, and Mustang - worth it, but only because GTI turbo and Mustang had supporting mods). Throttle response would be the only aspect I would like, and only if it was truly terrible/annoying, and to me at least, $200 is not worth it. BUT THAT IS MY OPINION. You all can do whatever the fuck you want.

you could achieve this by soaking rags or paper towels in white vinegar and wraping what's rusted of zip tying them to the parts.
then paint

Honestly thinking about putting a batch of that into a pump sprayer and doing the entire underside of the avalanche. Then rinse with a backing soda solution, then por15.

Sadly Ive even thought about setting up a tarp with a pond pump and some sprayers. As the solution comes down it sucks if back up and sprays it back up.
That and I also have access to 2000 gal dump tanks at work so it really wouldnt be hard. Lol.

Its just he had it sitting in the solution for a long time. Only way to keep the underside wet is continual spray. The only way to continual spray the underside is lots of time or a pump and pool.

I already answered the reliability question.
In the last 10 years we've needed a tow vehicle once. So I rented one for the day. Home Depot rents Super Duties for $20/hr.
If fuel economy was a priority for me, I'd have bought a Volt. My C7 gets ~17 mpg around town. Vira's Mazda isn't any better. We don't care.
A newish Colorado would have been double or triple the price. We got this thing a couple thousand below KBB, and we paid cash, so we're not worried about resale.
This isn't meant to be a do-everything daily driver. It's a replacement for the Montero primarily for winter use and it's something to goof around with.
Don't overthink it.
