I don't know. That finale for season 2 was a turd. The whole concept was terrible, and all 3 of them looked legitimately miserable. The attempts at humor were painful and forced.
It's especially bad after watching the newest season of Top Gear. Those guys are starting to really gel, and you can see they're having fun. I think age has a lot to do with it too.
I was saying to Vira that I could easily see Jeremy packing it up when their contract ends after next season. James and Richard would probably go off and do their own thing. One of my co-workers says Richard has a show called "Crash Course" and it's pretty good. It's sort of like a less dirty version of Dirty Jobs.
There was a rumor in the UK Daily Mail that Amazon may not renew the show after next season. The Daily Mail is basically a tabloid, and everyone associated with the show laughed it off, but that doesn't mean there's not a nugget of truth to it. There's been a lot of bad reviews.
One of the better comments I saw on Jalopnik was "I watch GT because I feel obligated. I watch Top Gear because I want to". I'm starting to feel the same way.

Have not seen an episode of Top Gear since they got rid of that Evans guy. Don't have BBC america and it is not on Prime or Netflix yet.
As for season 2, it was good, but ya, the finale left me wanting something better. It felt weak.

Yeah, the finally was a bummer. I kept waiting for them to get on to something else...but they never did. I also felt like they missed a cool opportunity in the old but new cars episode (with the Astin and Jaguar). Shelby 'found' enough Cobra parts a few (several?) years ago to build and sell new old stock cobras. I thought it would have been cool to have one in that episode.

On episode two of the new top gear. I want a Sherpa. I want one. Or one of those camans that will do 0-60 in 5 seconds on dirt and 90mph. I could sell my Humvee and be half way to the payment. Wonder how they do on snow?! Hmmmmm.

That was another winner. I do feel like the backup camera thing was just jammed in as filler, but the Bigfoot thing was great.
They were having a good time. When Harris fell off the electric dirt bike, he got right back up and was yelling about how great it was.
These shows work best when you wish you were there with them. Vira and I were both saying how cool it'd be to go rip an electric dirt bike up the side of a mountain, or drive that Sherpa.
I've never wished I could drive an old Mercedes full of sea water and dead fish through washed out roads in a 3rd world country.

Good article from Road and Track that seems to reflect what a lot of people are saying. Top Gear's near death experience and subsequent rebirth has made it a better show. The Grand Tour feels like the same old stale Top Gear with just enough rebranding to keep the BBCs lawyers away.
We just watched the Top Gear episode about Japan. Once again, it was great. The only complaint I had was how they tore up that beautiful RX7

I guess I'll have to watch a bit of both and see what's up... Sounds like Top Gear really upped their game and Grand Tour just isn't cutting it.
One question: In the Japan episode - who won? The Type R or the Lexus?

The Type R, but just barely. When they went back to the studio, they posted the times around the Top Gear track without showing the runs. They were identical down to the tenth of a second.
Also, ninja Stig is awesome

FYI, the spoiler tag still sends the text out in email notifications with no spoiler notification around it. lol
Not that I care, but that seems kinda broken...

I have to say, I never thought Matt would be a good person in this show but he really does a good job.
Really liked the Japan episode. I would love to see the underground stuff, dont even need to drive any of it...just wanna see it!
The Colombia Special will be the second special episode of the Amazon Prime motoring series The Grand Tour, presented by ex-Top Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May. Originally, the special was meant to be filmed in October, 2017 however, following Clarkson's diagnosis with pneumonia, these plans were delayed until January, 2018.
Due to the late filming of the episode, it will not air with the rest of The Grand Tour's second series. Clarkson revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that it would likely go to air in mid-2018 as a standalone episode. The special in Colombia was also corroborated by the New York Post.
The synopsis of the episode is unknown. Further, whether the special will be split into two-parts like The Grand Tour's Namibia special is also unconfirmed.
It will be the first episode of The Grand Tour to be filmed in South America and the first time Clarkson, Hammond, and May have filmed there together since Top Gear's Patagonia Special.
Production began on the 24th of January, 2018 in Cartagena. The presenters were sighted driving a trio of off-roaders, with Clarkson in a Jeep Wrangler, Hammond in a Chevrolet Silverado, and May in a Fiat Panda 4x4. They were later spotted in Colombia's capital city, Bogota.

So I've been catching myself up from where I left off in season 1 and while I still feel a lot of it its pretty terrible I'm basically just watching it because it's in 4k. I find myself skipping past most everything in the tent.

Season 3 starts mid January. I will give it a watch. But we will see if we make it the whole season. Preview/trailer for it looked OK

I still haven't watched the trailer. I might check it out once it's available, but my level of enthusiasm is pretty low after last season. It's a shame because they did have a couple of really good episodes.

I got into the second season way more than the first! I think they are getting better.
