Hmm. I'll have to check. Didn't know that was an option.

Yeah on the Explorer, you can have the heated steering wheel, heated seats, and cooled seat buttons on the sync home screen. There are physical buttons for the heated/cooled seats, but not the steering wheel.

Sync software is the same across everything, so I just need to find the setting for it. I'm going to have to make a bunch of other changes when I swap the dash, so I'll worry about it then.

Yup that's what hers looked like. I added the buttons for heated/cooled seats on that screen (basically makes a full row across the bottom where the heated steering wheel button is) because it just made the home screen look more complete

Speaking of heated seats - I wish the heated seat got warmer hah. That is one thing Beth's BMW does better.

My Lexus is not as hot as the wife’s Tahoe. It’s close but the Tahoe on high is just too much.

Yeah her BMW seats are insane. The truck seats could definitely be warmer. Heck I think my old CTS had warmer seats and it was a 2011.

Well this is unexpected.

https://carabc.cn/collections/carplay-s ... -style-oem

I had written off the 12" upgrade because of the cost and some issues getting Sync 4 to work with my truck. But this is just a screen and bezel kit that keeps the Sync 3 APIM and just upscales the existing Lincoln 10" 1280x800 graphical theme to 12" and 1920x1200. It also keeps my climate and radio controls.

I still think a 10" screen would be ideal but this might be an option.

The only downside is you don't really get anything extra with all that space. It's still the same UI. Just bigger.

Sync 3 is fully jailbroken though. So it's at least theoretically possible to re-write the UI. It's all just Qt QML scripting. That's how I have a slightly tweaked color scheme on my current system.

We'll see. I haven't completely given up on the 10" idea either. I just wish I could find one that didn't have a ton of extra bezel around it.

Ever since I installed the seats, I've had this harsh rattle noise from the passenger side. It took me a while, but I finally narrowed it down to the seat itself. I noticed the noise went away when Vira was with me. This weekend I finally had the combination of free time and good weather to yank it back out and figure out what was going on.

There's a solid steel brick in the top of the passenger seat on the upscale trims. I guess it's supposed to keep the seat from shaking when there's nobody in it? The rubber mounts had torn and this metal mass was smacking against the metal seat frame.

The top part of the bracket is still in the seat. I can't get to the screw without taking the cover all the way off.

Apparently this is pretty common. Some people have said theirs went out in 30,000 miles. I'm just glad I found it and it wasn't too bad to remove. I hadn't realized just how much it was bothering me until it was gone. I was trying to avoid every bump because of this noise and not being sure if I was damaging something related to the heating and cooling system in the seat.

I'm probably not even going to bother replacing it. It's $55 new. Fuck that.

In other news, the truck just rolled over 65k the other day. I bought it with 51k. That's a nice little milestone. I should probably rotate the tires.

Wow, what is even the point of that for real

Seems super over the top, even for high end stuff.

Right? I'd expect that shit in a Lincoln. Not a Ford pickup. It's like a tuned mass damper at the top of a skyscraper.

Yeah, I just can't imagine a seat vibrating enough to need something like that to counter act it

ive noticed seat shake in some cars. i could absolutely see a buyer of a new 60k+ platinum whining about a little bit of seat shake when hitting a bump. new car buyers are crybaby ass bitches for the most part.
