Next Project?
So Danielle has been itching for something for her. An older car. Something fun. She just got a raise because of a promotion, and we both get another in a couple of months. After my surgery I'll be laid up for a couple of months but after that I'll be free for the rest of the winter.
Debating on picking something up, but not entirely sure what. Danielle gave me the go ahead to start looking for ideas. So far she sent me a couple of older vettes (c4 and c3), an opel gt body (only one local that is drivable and project is a manual. She wants automatic), and a couple of Gen 3 camaros.
She also likes older stuff like Gen 1 camaros, older 30s coupes, and stuff like that.
Any ideas I can toss her way?

Re: Next Project?
How much of a project are you looking to get into? Just basic fix-up stuff or big mods? At a glance, it looks like it takes a fair amount of work to engine swap an Opel.
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

Re: Next Project?
More of a fix up type. She doesn't want a monster engine like me. Don't get me wrong, she loves the sound of a good old v8 but prefers looks over power and speed. The gti we had with 200 hp was more than enough.
Opel would keep engine, just do transmission swap if that is the route we go.
Ideally not too much body work. Don't want to deal with rust. Paint I can fix. Mechanical stuff and electric I'm good too. But a nice close to if not already running car with little to no rust.
Trying to stay under 10k for the car. She loves classics. Her top 3 are miura, opel gt, and cuda. But also really likes 1st Gen camaros. She also likes the idea of something different. Like something you don't always see at a show. Like an opel.

Re: Next Project?
I'd probably pick a C4 with an LT1 just seems like the easiest to get parts for. I'm all about simplicity in getting parts now. I still love weird cars and would love to have them but I just don't have time (or the desire if I'm totally honest) to track down hard to find parts anymore.
Re: Next Project?
opel. swap in a mustang ecoboost/A10. bet that lil fucker would be fun as hell.

That stopped being funny a long time ago.

Re: Next Project?
For a car like that I'd rather do a little boosted 3 or 4 cylinder due to the physical size.
Have you thought about something like a Solstice or Sky (AKA modern Opel GT)? I'd love to have one of those, if it had just a little bit of usable storage and a less fiddly roof.
Would you even fit in a GT? There's one parked outside along my route to work, and it's tiny. It's a foot shorter and 10 inches narrower than your C6.

fiesta ST would probably fit without much work but i dont know if theres a rwd auto thatll bolt up to it. if not were now getting out of the realm of fairly simple engine swaps to gain an auto.Jeff V. wrote: ↑Thu Oct 23, 2025 3:26 pm For a car like that I'd rather do a little boosted 3 or 4 cylinder due to the physical size.

LS7 fits VERY nicely in a sky. almost like the bay was made for it.

What about a just frame car like greg did. They have lots of different ones now days.
But if you are just looking for something she will love driving and is quick I would suggest something bmw. They are well balanced, and can have very quick ones.
I know that doesn’t fit the old very well so I will also throw out just a classic 65 mustang.

2.3T from a Mustang. Already RWD, and fits to the 10 speed.vr4 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 23, 2025 3:33 pmfiesta ST would probably fit without much work but i dont know if theres a rwd auto thatll bolt up to it. if not were now getting out of the realm of fairly simple engine swaps to gain an auto.Jeff V. wrote: ↑Thu Oct 23, 2025 3:26 pm For a car like that I'd rather do a little boosted 3 or 4 cylinder due to the physical size.

I've wanted to put a 2.3 EB in a Starion for a while now but alas I don't have the skills, funds, and CA won't let me make it road legal

Sure if I had the skills and funds too. Also I'd have to be cool with tax dodging too.
