I've never had one go out. I would change the throw out with an OEM unit.
It is an oem unit. Koyo if I remember correctly.

After dinner I made it down to drain the trans fluid and almost had the half shaft out and one of the girls was crying how she missed me. She wouldn’t come the garage. So here I am. Just snuggling with my youngest.

Everything but the passenger side half shaft is out. Freak that little c clip. Otherwise this trans would be out. Guess I will have to finish tomorrow.

Its always made quick work of the C clip. Bigger the better.
I started with my 2 ft one. Then moved to my 5 ft one. I was worried I would crack the case.

tell her to stop whining and grab a wrench...
i ran into a similar issue with an axle on my lexus. shove some allthread in the end of some channel locks, put a slide hammer weight on the end. works like a fuckin charm.

I guess in my case the axle came apart and it was just the cup/stub still in there

I would have this thing out but tweaked my back over the 4th wrestling with the boat.
So all I need is the clutch line and the trans bolts and it’s ready to come out.

Aaron thanks again for the picture. I used it just like that.
I have pics I will upload but I don’t know what I was expecting. I guess I was expecting to look at it and go, yeah that. It looks pretty damn normal. I do need to take off the pressure plate and look at the clutch maybe a rivit or something was making noise. Surely this noise wasn’t the TOB alone.
Also, reminder to unhook the battery before. Starter threw some sparks. Guess I’m gonna be checking fuses. Dangit.

Ray suggested it’s the clutch hub and I have stripped one before. I will check it out later.
Also, when lowering the trans down the chain went loose, can unhook it. Go to the ground to pull it out….trans hanging. Very confused how this is all happening. Trans isn’t hung on something. Then I notice the hardest working bolt on a 3/s.
The excess chain got hung up on this and held the entire trans. Lol.

Not sure the best way to test the input bearing. If it's bad I'd think you'd be able to move the input shaft around and it would have play. Or it would make a lot of noise when you spin it.
Ray says it’s almost always clutch. And that’s a cheap eBay one I just needed to get to get my car back together 10yrs ago for my wedding. So that’s not bad for eBay.
