Definitely this. Don’t pull the engine unless you need to do something that requires it to be out.

Naw. Engine is good. Only reason I even debated is as with a motor mount plate it comes out pretty easy. Just much more to unplug and replug.

It’s been 11yrs since I’ve pulled it. I’ve put a lot of miles on it after the wedding and before kids. I was trying to tell the wife how I would get under the car with every extension/wrench/socket I needed and would have everything out in no time. I do not look forward to it. But I also have an ac garage so it will not be too bad. Plus I have a lot of stuff not in the engine bay.

I just know I have at least one TC bolt to trans stripped. So I will wanna fix that. I bet it’s the input bearing. Which means a press and everything else. Then there is that cheaper clutch I put in 10yrs ago that I’m sure is slipping in 3rd at higher rpm. I was at the top of 3rd (around 120) and had a modified diesel truck actually come around me. No way that happens without a slipping clutch.

Anyways. I just know it’s not just pull out and put in. I have to actively really work to get it back together.

I will update over the next couple weeks when I do get time. I also need to clean all the kart stuff up I’ve been working on.

I like the AC garage. Nice touch.

I kid with you, but since installing the DR650's on the yellow Stealth it slips in third as well. Its the factory clutch and it works fine, but once that boost hits she just slips. I guess im saying that i too will be in a similar situation...one day.

RPS max street clutch has been awesome for me. Even good with DR650s at 25psi!

I might do this tomorrow since it’s gonna rain.

Anyone have an input bearing go bad? Any signs of it? Basically it’s much louder chatter than a TOB but does go away when clutch is pushed in. But when driving you hear it a lot. A whole lot. More than I’ve heard any “chattering” TOB. But could be something come apart on the clutch, minus it drives fine.

Nice good to know.

Coop are you going to swap out the output shaft seal while you are in there? I would.

Changed from kart duty to car duty. (Man it’s still a mess)

Image

I was dreading this downpipe. Dreading even more putting it back. The vband clamp hits the subframe. So you just have to seriously manhandle it.

Image

My ss tcase. Love this thing.

Minus the subframe part I am done under the car. Now the wheels and half shafts need to come out. Already even got that little bracket for the drivers CV.

If it’s my input bearing and thus the bellhousing has to come off then yes. If it’s just the shaft leaking then yes as well. If somehow I can fix it without the bellhousing coming off. No.

My hood strut was given to me by a local that has passed away. He was a really good dude. I miss him. Even if I ever sell the car I’m keeping that. I would go to the low pressure struts, but I miss the local.

It is not a single turbo. Hence the two pipes for the downpipe. I run an adapter plated td05 car. That as paul has said (and he’s right) it was all built around those stupid adapter plates. What was suppose to be a simple way to put tdo5’s on your car made me go down a path that I was too young and dumb not to back out of and do a lot of things I wish I hadn’t.

Taking a break. Gonna play on the lake. Prob go back down tonight and finish it.

I do have to figure out how to hook the trans up to the engine lift as I don’t have a transmission motor mount.

I would do the output shaft seal regardless. They fail frequently and with no real reason. Especially if you are running on the original one.

Pretty sure 25spline output shaft seals install from the outside. So I would do it period.

The Gatecrasher method involves a chain/rope around the bracket that mounts the shift cables to the transmission. When you do that it lowers and raises the transmission and basically the perfect angle. You don't use the transmission mount.

25 minutes from above picture to below with the trans fully bolted to the block, all done by myself.

Deff not original as my car was originally a 18 spline. Bellhousing drilled out for a 25 spline. But yes wouldn’t be bad to do.

Thank you about telling about the shifter cables. I didn’t think about that.

Anyone ever deal with bad input bearing? Any one know a sure fire way to know if it’s it? Throw out bearings are cheap I figured I would throw one in just because. But I am betting I have to take the bellhousing off no matter what. But what am I looking for?

I've never had one go out. I would change the throw out with an OEM unit.
