Maybe look into some of the motorcycle helmet communication stuff. They have some pretty flat speakers now.

And I hate to be that guy, but.. as someone who has been down on both motorcycles and bicycles.. might want to try to put some gloves on her. Road rash really sucks even at fairly low speed.

Other than that it looks fun!

Oh she gets gloves, neck brace, and fire suit. This was just to see if she could even handle the noise, the cart, even liked it. But I do totally appreciate it.

Also chain guard comes this week.

I took lot of drone videos. It’s in a mode to smooth it out and follow so it actually makes it look slower. lol.

Got the chain/heat shield guard on, had to take the motor loose to get the clutch off, but when putting back on I thought I had the chain perfect but somehow it’s way to tight now. So I have to loosen it all and make it right again. Also took some of the extra tubing I had and ran the two wires it has inside it. I hated them dangling down.

Gloves came in. A little big but that’s okay. Neck brace should be in this week and also thin cheap speakers for her helmet.

Will figure out the race jacket after a little more lap time.

Another thing I'll throw out there (again from experience from going down on a motorcycle..) is see if you can find a jacket with elbow and back protector. A kart is a bit different but those are the spots we typically try to protect on a bike. Even my thin commuter summer jacket I made sure to have solid elbow and back protector. At least for riding you can get built in or separate that you put on under the jacket.

I hope she loves this - it honestly sounds like a hell of a lot of fun.

That’s very helpful and I don’t know if they are out there but I will look. I was deff wanting extra knee and elbow pads. Maybe even forearm protection. It’s kind of why I’ve waited on the racing suit. And everything in steps.

I really need to try and get the other one running and sold so I basically make my money back. Even if I have to throw on a 79cc predator engine to make it happen I will. But I think there is a class for this 60cc 2 stroke so I prob try it first.

Yeah both of my jackets I had when I had my motorcycle were armored as Frode said. One of my jackets was actually Frode's old one ( ) and so were the gloves I had too (which were also armored).

I wonder if you can get motorcycle racing gear for kids?

Yep knuckle/finger armor in my motorcycle gloves hah.. and my more "hardcore" ones had wrist supports. Those are tricky though for throttle control.. I remember that gear Aaron

I am actually kind of motorcycle shopping again...

Ohhhhh. I like the wrist idea. She doesn’t need much wrist control for the kart but if she did wreck that would be huge.

See, this shit is helpful. Anything else?

Yeah the wrist support might actually work better for her than on a bike haha... and such a common injury. The motorcycle ones I have are just kind of long gloves with a mild support structure and thick velcro strap going around. Not the super stiff ones we use for snowboarding. Come to think of it.. might be able to find some skateboarding protective gear? Snowboarding would also work but it would probably be too thick and hot.

Beth did pick up a tailbone protector for when she started learning snowboarding. Basically kind of like a pair of shorts with protective padding of some kind on the butt. She said it helped quite a bit for when she fell a few times. Probably not the most impacted point in a kart accident though but tailbone impact hurts.

The seat is the tailbone protector. If you're strapped in properly you won't come off the seat in an accident.

I'd look at what the racing league requires and maybe talk to some of the other parents. You don't want the kid so bulked up in safety gear that she can't move.
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

There are no seat belts with this. They don’t want you to be strapped in. They want you thrown.

Here is a pain in the ass. A chain guard. First no one really sells one for the 79cc. But people say it will fit. Well yeah. It will but I did have to drill the second hole. Also had to take the whole engine off the kart to take the clutch off the crank shaft to put in the bolts. Then putting it back on was a little bit of a pain and I had the chain just right, then it tightened up somehow. Then since I moved stuff I had to redo how much throttle it gets

But I didn’t have to trim it or anything odd like that, which was nice.

I paid like 20 bucks extra to get the larger fin to help her not hit the exhaust.

More safety stuff. Neck brace, gloves, speakers in the helmet that I couldn’t get to work. The kart started to give me problems. I think the chain might have been to tight or the clutch needed lube as I couldn’t turn off the choke all the way. It started to blow a little black smoke out the back. Doesn’t help I don’t let it rev very much.

She did crash, I’ll get the video.

Had to take it from the wife’s work security cameras. She just jumped the curb. No damage, and she learned she can’t just not focus. She was 100% okay and kept going but she did say she was surprised. So it’s all in learning. Heck in the autocross there will be no curbs. Lol.

Didn’t know if my gas tank would fit rules. The rules says an overflow tank. It’s okay with the factory tank.

Now just a race suit and we have to visit an event so she can watch, and run with no one else around!!!!

Need to figure out this clutch/chain and it bogging.
