Dome light.

Image

The middle is obviously what was factory. Just to show comparison. The middle is also the only light that comes in when opening the door.

Image

This is all 3 on. I think I’m gonna jump the power so that all 3 turn on when you open the door. Going to led, should be okay power wise.

It’s like in the 90-00 no one wanted light when getting in and out id vehicles. Now you open a door and you can see everything. Maybe it’s just me getting old. But man, I like light. Lol

It needs damn light. I txt jeff once and was like my roll switch isn’t turning on my dome light. We talked about it. Come to find out that fuse style light was blown. So I wasn’t getting any light between those door sides that were blown and the dome light that was blown. So I’m making progress but some under seat/foot well light would be nice.

Also that cargo light is basically useless. I will prob eventually do it, just not a huge priority right now.

All cargo lights are basically useless unless they're in the bed

I have this one wire at the end of the bed at the drivers side. I need to figure out if that is tied to the cargo light switch and if so some under railing lights might be added.

Yea i really like extra cargo lights. I have 2 led blocks at the end of my Ram and they do a good job along with the 3rd brake like mounted ones to keep things lit up.

Finally got that abs light scanned when it was on. Said speed sensor. Most people who have that the speedometer jumps all around. Mine wasn’t doing that but it’s where I am gonna start.

Ordered it.

Put it in.

It can’t be it. Because it was the easiest thing I’ve ever done on a vehicle. Changing out an air filter is more work than this sensor. Lol. It just can’t be that easy. Nothing is ever that easy.

Only problem is it’s random. So even if I drive it then it maybe a week before I know.

Changed out the Abs module today. Light still came on.

I went around and cleaned some grounds. I know these chevys don’t have near enough or good grounds. So maybe they helped. They didn’t seem bad. I know I missed one. I might go find it this afternoon as it’s for sensors and this is a sensor issue.

Have you reset the error codes or pulled the battery cable off each time you replace something?

I bring this shit on myself. I swear I do. Why must I own an old ass truck with a big ass motor. Lol.

I’ve wanted a portable winch to pull stuff into the bed of the truck since I got a king bed and have a 5th wheel.

Just so happens my dad had a HF one and needed bigger for a dock so he gave me his old one. But he kept this one piece I needed.

Image

Well I thought, sure HF had a million of these things made I will just go find one. After two days of searching the cheapest one add 15 bucks shipping and it’s half the price of a new winch.
Image

Well screw that. I’ll just use some chain. Simple and cheap from Lowe’s.

Well I go out to do some measuring and this happens.
Image
This is the plastic end that holds the latch rod for the tailgate to the tailgate handle.

Well shit. But I have a ton as the father in laws avalanche broke one so I was gonna fix it and bought 50 of them on Amazon. Nope. Too big. So I call up napa. They say they got them.

Image

They do….but they are the wrong side but whatever. It will work.

But shit the bezel tabs break on the tailgate handle bezel
Image

But eventually I got the winch hooked up.

Image

And I ordered a new bezel. But man, I swear I bring this on myself.

I have thought about that exact thing!!! But also cables to run to the vehicles battery. I bet it’s about the same price. This was all in a tool box self contained with a lawn mower battery. He just needed a bigger winch. I liked the set up. If my tool box would hold 1k lbs I would have mounted it in there. But I doubt it will.

You can put a 12 volt connector in the bed. Remember that camper/utility box pigtail we talked about?

Or you could go to the trailer connector if it's the 7 pin type.

Just gotta make sure it's all rated for the amperage on the winch.

I did think about that. I am curious how many amps this thing uses. It can’t be a lot but also it’s cheap HF so I might not want to involve the truck. Lol

See the top of page 6. It draws 21 amps when it's maxed out.

https://manuals.harborfreight.com/manua ... 612371.pdf

I think you'd want a circuit fused for 25 amps.
