2001 gmc sierra 2500 slt

Post by DCIV »

I’ve been looking for a 2500 for a while. Been to see a couple. All ended up just not being what they should be. All 3-6 hours away.

Then this one popped up. 30 mins away. But the seller had bad reviews.

So I grabbed a friend who likes to carry, showed him the messages and said I don’t have plans today, wanna go? He said sure, well first he said…..and why do you want to go? Which is fair but just like here I like people who keep me in check.

Turns out he’s an old man, whose jerk off nephew runs his for sales. We were suppose to meet at 10. We get there nothing. Call, nothing. Txt, nothing. Google his buisness….nothing. We go get food and I tell him I am in town and free, just let me know when he gets free. Well some back and forth and about 1 I finally meet up with him. The old man said he would have come if he knew but his nephew is an idiot. It’s also the old man doesn’t like to keep his cell phone on him so it’s kind of dumb trying to direct not listening.

Anyways. We get there and the underside of the truck is CLEAN. Super clean. Impeccable clean. Not like someone sprayed it to make it clean, clean as like it just never did anything bad clean.

It’s got problems. The stricter to not let the door open to far has lost its bushing and makes some noise. It’s a 50 buck part and door panel needs to come off to do it. The front of the headliner he thumb tac’d up. And one of the compartments on the roof he sealed shut as it’s rattling some. All fixable. It’s also missing some odd things here and there but whatever.

The good. He put new tires, shocks, and had all fluids changed. He bought it for 17k and then decided he didn’t like crew cab. Not the long bed as when he meet us he did so in an extended cab king bed 6.0. 2500.

Image

Missing firewall insulation. They are all torn, everyone I looked at. Don’t know why this one is gone?

Image

It’s big.

Image

New tires. Bf goodwrenches. Exactly what I would pick but they were too expensive.

Image

New shocks

Ever seen 3 of these? Lol

Lots more to come but this for now.

You talk about how clean it is, and then you don't post a picture of the underside.

It was cold out. Also my driveway has a lot of texture on it, I had just come from a funeral, beat the wife home so I had time for pics but not time to get into clothes worthy of being on the ground.

Z82 TRAILERING PACKAGE(SPECIAL)(REESE TYPE HITCH)
Z85 CHASSIS PACKAGE,INCREASED CAPACITY

Is this just saying I have the trailer hitch and long bed?

Some other ones looked interesting as well.

The windows roll down much better than the avalanche. Does the second battery have anything to do with the windows? I think it might do some accessories? Maybe not.

It's more likely that someone replaced the window regulators and/or motors.

Z82 is the receiver hitch. Z85 is suspension.

I’m really worried this thing is too big. I’m having issues getting it parked and around the house. Like multiple back and forward.

I need to try this a couple times and either figure it out or sell it. The guy I went with has been looking for something for his pressure washing, mowing buisness. He really liked it. He said if I didn’t want it let him know.

First issue. There was a clicking when trying to park it. It was loud enough I thought it was a tire rubbing. It wasn’t. It also felt like a low tire while driving. I think (and hope) it’s my 4wd actuator as they do kind of get stuck if not used. And no tires were rubbing.

Got under it. Turned shafts. No clicking. So I’m almost positive it’s the 4wd actuator. Didn’t do it on a drive. So I engaged and disengaged the 4wd a bunch. Hopefully that helps.

I think this engine sounds pretty good.

Although I had both abs and brake light come on today while driving. Brake level is full. So it could be anything from speed sensor, abs sensor, abs module, or wheel hub. Gonna hook it up to a tech 2. See what is says.

Read one post about putting dio electric grease on the abs connector and so I figured that was easy enough to try. Did it and it went away. We will see.

Light came back. So guess I need to scan it with a tech 2 and at least it should give me a side or main unit.

Gotcha. I bet it is the abs module. As he had new wheels, tires, and shocks put on. I would think they would have found a bad wheel bearing.

Well my scan tool couldn’t read it. It’s very intermittent. I’ve only seen if a couple times and once turned off it’s gone for a couple drives. I just want it to tell me abs module or wheel speed sensor. Then I know which direction to go.
