Mini-moto!

Post by DirtyRyda »

My youngest is starting Mini-moto racing this summer. He had his first practice yesterday. His mom was kinda nervous, but we're all super excited. They race at kart tracks and have a kids 50 class in which he'll be riding a Honda XR50. Here are a few pics.

He's 10. The kids 50 class in the league he's racing in ages 5-12. We went and watched the last race of the season last year and there were only 4 riders in the class.

That is super cool. :)
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

While racing is never cheap, it's a comparatively affordable way to get into it. We got lucky and are on a borrowed bike this year so we didn't have that cost. We have just under $1k spent on gear.

We went to Road America this past weekend for the MotoAmerica races. Found out that the kid in the last picture with him is a rider in the junior cup class in MotoAmerica. He had his best finish yet with 7th place in race two. He was running in 4th in race one when he crashed out.

I had a 2024 ecoboost Mustang as a rental. It averaged 34 mpg according to the trip computer. Didn't really want a two door rental, but Liam was begging me to get it. I use National and it was in the emerald aisle. For a flat rate you can pick anything form that aisle and they're all midsize or above. I liked it, but it felt really big compared to my Cobalt. It would be a nice blend of fun and economical if I was in the market for something like that.

We had our second race weekend this past weekend. They had a night race on Saturday. The track was wet Saturday night which had all the kids a little hesitant. But they all finished both races, and Sunday it was on. We had eight racers in the kids 50 class which I think is the most they've had. Here are a few pictures.
