Jeff V. wrote: Tue Jan 02, 2024 2:24 pm It's so weird. I'll probably never know exactly what happened. On the bright side, I think I can fix it. The bracket itself is a pretty simple shape. I'm hopeful I can flatten out what I have left and use that to make a new one. Of course the GM part is discontinued, and it was only ever used on locker equipped H3s, like every other special little snowflake part on this damn truck.

As far as the coil wire goes, I'm hoping I can install an inline crimp and some oil resistant shrink tubing.
I think you should be able to make a new one. And get it working again.

It's simple enough that I can mock it up in cardboard in less time than it takes for the printer to warm up.

First attempt was a complete fucking failure. Spent half the day mostly hand cutting a piece of 3/8" steel since I don't want to use a grinder and shoot hot sparks all over my garage. Hammering out the old bracket didn't work. The part I made from that template wasn't even close to fitting. So now I get to start all over again. :grumble:

Yeah. I know how I'll do it differently now. I just have to get down there and do it. It doesn't help that it's 50* in the garage. I need to get a new propane tank for my heater.

It wouldn't be so bad if my feet didn't freeze so easily. I don't know if I have a circulation problem or what.

Slippers. That is why I'm always wearing them in the garage.

Still, we might get a mini split this year.

I get that. I have an old place rug on the floor in spots, or i have some large cardboard. I have also installed a radiant heater on the ceiling above my workbench, but that only helps if you're close by.

Hands are my problem. I can handle any weather just fine in general (like running or skiing in frigid temperatures) but my hands freeze easily so I have to wear gloves.. which makes working on anything really difficult.
