Yeah I get that but once you get out of the work truck trims and into the nicer ones they aren't as plentiful. The standard 8" Sync3 is much easier to find parts for.Jeff V. wrote: ↑Tue Dec 19, 2023 3:47 pm Mine was stock with the 4" and some kind of base Sync. I think that's just BT audio and some limited voice recognition?
The upgrade harnesses in the pictures don't look bad at all. It's easily within my ability to do if I can find the right info. I'm not even against swapping over an entire donor dash harness if it turns out that would enable other upgrades.
A whole year of Corvette production is like a week of F-series production.Parts are plentiful.

You forget. I owned an SVT Focus for quite a few years. I still say it was the best all-around car I ever owned.Shiny Steve wrote:Jeff has tasted the sweet Ford nectar. Will he ever be the same?
That's what I was talking about. The Sync 3.x stuff. Not the 22+ SD.Chris wrote:Yeah I get that but once you get out of the work truck trims and into the nicer ones they aren't as plentiful. The standard 8" Sync3 is much easier to find parts for.
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

Oh well the picture you posted was the 22 SD Lariat or higher trim trucks. The associated trim parts to that large screen is only in 22.Jeff V. wrote: ↑Tue Dec 19, 2023 5:11 pmYou forget. Right. I was just getting yours and Aaron's posts crossed up in my replies.

Ah. I’d love to have that big screen because Android Auto doesn’t cover the whole screen on it. Many of the primary functions of the Infotainment are still visible. On Sync3.x devices it covers everything.

Just downloaded Forscan, and noticed they have J2534 support.
Hmm. Let's try using my General Motors MDI interface on my Ford pickup.
It works! Even the mid-speed CAN stuff!
It is not heresy, and I will not recant!

Re: Let's try Ford now.
I have an OBDLink MX which should be great for wireless stuff like checking DTCs.
But if I get into programming, wired will be a LOT faster and a hell of a lot safer than using an ELM327-derrived bluetooth interface.
I figured the high speed CAN stuff would work fine. The mid-speed stuff was a real pleasant surprise.

Those are solid adapters for the price. I love my wireless one for diagnostics. There are a lot of technical advantages to using something with a native software interface though. Hopefully I won't be going that crazy with the truck. For now it was just a quick and fun experiment.

I pulled this off my security camera yesterday. I love the colors.

Oh nice I didn't notice it had tonneau cover before
Re: Let's try Ford now.
It's just the soft kind with velcro around the edges, so it's not secure. But it'll keep stuff dry. I think I'd prefer this to a hard one that was less versatile. It's not like I'm going to be keeping anything valuable back there anyway.

I have a folding one and I really like it. It can only be opened of the tailgate is open so it's somewhat secure, but I can fold it up and still use the whole bed.

I should pull out the vette and park it next to the outback and 250. My 3 shades of grey.
I second the folding hardtop cover. Or you can get a retractable one. Both are nice options if you are willing to spend the money. Had old style hard one on my green silverado, retractable on my blue silverado, soft on the tan silverado, and folding on the 250. DFW 150 has a combo of old style hard that opens like a trunk lid along with a built in tool box that sits by the rear window. Stowe 2 in 1 system.
