Which one?

Post by DCIV »

I’m still all over the place in next vehicle but I am gonna be looking over Xmas break.

Would you rather have
https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/inventory ... E_SHIPPING

Or

Neither are really what I like. I think Lexus out does ford in looks. Ford outdoes Lexus in fun to drive. Lexus wins in reliability (not that the ford is bad). Ford wins in gas mileage.

I need more room than my escape. Badly. My oldest has zero room to move her legs. It’s sad. She says she is fine and loves dads car over moms but it’s just her being nice.

I don’t care to much for daily driver looks. I would like it to be fun to drive and for the love of god more comfy than the escape. I hurt in that thing if I have to drive it over an hour. So while the edge will prob more fun to drive, we had an edge SEL and was NOT comfy.

Just curious what bawc says about the two.

We test drove the Edge and I really liked it. Its really sporty and good on gas. If you are just putting on miles as a commuter that is above and beyond.

Which edge? We had a 2016 sel. Look a little different but very close. It had the 3.5. It got basically same gas mileage as the Lexus and wasn’t really peppy. I can see the 2.7 turbo ones are much quicker though. My main worry is that it was leather and not comfy. Like 90’s bmw’s seats. Lol.

Don’t quite understand about the body on frame, are you saying that’s worse?

I was going for super reliable, comfy, and really would do a 4Runner if it had a v8. Lol

Edge ST does better on gas, and has more power and tq than the GX, not to mention it weighs 1,000lbs. less...

Everything Aaron said. Edge will have newer interior tech too, if you care about such things.

It was a 2017 ST with the 2.7 Turbo i think. We tested a lot of SUV and compact SUV's. It was the most comfortable, tightest in the corners (without tq steer), and fastest. We came pretty close to getting it. I didnt like their touch screen controls that year, but I think they fixed all that mess by 2020.

Well he probably needs the GX because it can shift to 4low without locking the center differential and it has Toyota's a-trac which is arguably the best abs 'diff lock' available....

Tell me more……I may have picked the one too big. I think there is a smaller version.

School bus yellow Mercedes G500 with a very questionable history. But it has the most important feature.

You can add a fancy radio to it yourself.

Someone already put fake G63 badges on it, so your wife can feel all fancy.

Not really the GX is the same frame as the 4Runner, but runs the Land Cruiser Prado body. Toyota doesn't really make an actual off roader smaller than the GX/4Runner. You'd have to look at a Rav4 to go smaller, or the LX/Land Cruiser (or Sequoia) to go bigger. The 3rd Row in the GX/4Runner is really small and leaves no luggage space behind it. Having cross shopped a GX and a 4Runner i much prefer the way the GX drives (better engine and transmission) and handles. The 4Runner is under-sprung and under damped. This makes it feel like its always wallowing around. The GX feels much better sprung and damped, but also all GX's come with KDSS (kinetic dynamic suspension system). KDSS is active hydraulic swaybars, they can go from nearly solidly connected, to fully disconnected and anywhere in between. All of that being said it's still a body on frame SUV with full time 4wd (there is no 2wd mode) and will get around 15mpg in mixed use.
