Ummmm. Those people don’t buy new cars. They stay in what they have and make them louder and stupid. These are more people who just think it’s a lot of energy to start and stop a vehicle and we’ve been told forever the worst thing to do is start your engine and long term what’s that doing to the starter and load on the battery. Now also those peoples mind will not be changed by evidence as well as the above mentioned but the idiot people you talk about don’t usually buy new cars.

I like it on my RS. Saves me gas when I'm stopped at a redlight.

And people that think it's harder on their car are uninformed. The starters, and associated parts with start/stop are beefier in these applications to get the longevity.

:smartie:

Also some systems, like the eTorque on the Ram 1500, actually use the generator to restart the engine.

Those are the same kind of people who buy Active Fuel Management (cylinder deactivation) disablers for their Corvettes. They heard a few trucks had AFM failures and they also can't stand the idea of their car running on only 4 cylinders, so they disable it.

Help me out with something here. I bought this thing with the idea that maybe one day I could use it to tow a car on a flatbed trailer. Corvette or something similar. The brochure says my truck maxes out at 7700 lbs with the 2.7 and the 3.55 axle. But elsewhere it says max 5000. If I'm reading this right, the only real difference between 5000 and 7700 is a trans cooler and a front sway bar?

Where are you seeing 5,000? I think it's 7,700 based on that brochure. I see 5,000 for the 3.55 axle and the non-turbo 3.5 V6, but for the 2.7 Turbo it's 7,700.

Under Class IV hitch on the right, it says "up to 5000 with 3.5L and 2.7L."

But then under Trailer Tow it says "up to 11100".

There's another specific towing guide that says you need the Trailer Tow or Max Trailer Tow packages for trailer weights over 5000 lbs.

https://www.ford.com/cmslibs/content/da ... 3_Nov8.pdf

The only thing Max Trailer Tow seems to add is the backup assist function that I couldn't care less about.

Congrats on the purchase. That little 2 door should be fast with the 2.7 Ecoboost. Its 4x4 correct?

PS. Toss those wheels and lets see the OEM grill. :)

Thanks! It's 4x4. 2 Hi / 4 Hi / 4 Hi lock. I think part of the problem with the wheels is the size. They're 20s. I'd like to downsize to an 18" with a slightly more aggressive tread.

Son of a bitch. I just went out and shined a light in the grille. I have the factory trans cooler. :D

I have a rough spec sheet for the truck, but no actual Ford build sheet with specific option package codes on it. That's why I'm having to piece all this together.

Sorry, 4 low lock. Locking center diff with low range. There was an optional electronic rear locker, but I don't have that.

Ok. That make sense. The locking rear diff wasn't common on the F-150's. Good that you have low though. Should be a great all season hauler!

Yeah they shut down Ford ETIS a few years ago, where you could get that stuff for free, and migrated it to the Ford Service site which costs money.

Yeah without the original window sticker it can be somewhat difficult to assess what you can actually tow. Does it have the factory trailer brake controller?

Also, my guess is it has that trailer tow package that was optional then, but doesn't have the one that came with the backup assist etc. So definitely looks like you can tow up to 7,700 lbs. with a weight distributing hitch! Should be plenty for the Vette and a nice trailer.

No brake controller. I doubt it'd be too hard to add if I really wanted to.

Should be fine for a McLaren....err, I mean, Corvette.

Ford it's super easy with Forscan, but apparently on GM you can't add the factory one if it wasn't built with it.

I bet I could figure out how to add it to a GM truck  That's a huge part of why I was looking for GM in the first place. I know their electronics inside and out. Looks like it may be a moot point. Forscan looks almost like magic. I can't believe they give it away for free...

I know, ForScan is great. And so simple to use too!
