Only swap I could realistically do is an STI swap, but I'd need a whole car for that. I'm more likely to take this engine/car and swap it into a different Subaru... like an 00-03 outback/legacy wagon.

That's an interesting idea on upgrading the carrier bearing.

Yeah its an interesting concept, leave the factory bearing alone but give it better support. I'm interested since my chasis has 252k on it so i'm sure the carrier bearing support rubber is well past done.

Yeah typically it's the rubber that gets destroyed (hence why you can move them all around).

Just depends on the class i'd want to run it (assuming I had the time or the money). I mean talent aside lol

The reality is all you need to run staged rally in the US is the basic safety equipment (cage, seat, harness etc.) and an otherwise stock car is fine. To run in 4wd Open class like the Subaru Rally Team run by Vermont Sports Car, yes it'd take a lot more to be fully prepared.

Made lots of progress today. I installed the cam covers, timing set including new cam gears on the RH side, timing covers, new crank pulley, exhaust manifold, up pipe turbo, intake manifold, new turbo inlet pipe, coolant reservoir and lots of other odd and ends. I'm kinda at a stopping point because when I was replacing the turbo inlet pipe the evap purge vacuum lines and part of the valve broke so I have to order another $80+ of parts from Subaru. My current plan is to try and get it on the road before the end of the year. I'd love to have it running and driving before the 2 year anniversary of buying it.

Oh and even though i'd have to pull the intake manifold again I really want this new re-manufactured harness https://iwireusa.com/collections/iwire- ... ne-harness however I'm not super interested in spending another $500ish right now.
