Small jump pack

Post by DCIV »

I see these small jump packs, was thinking of buying one, if not two, to stash away in the wife’s and my vehicle. Most are around 70….little more than I want to spend but want to get something that will work.

Anyone have one? They stay charged up well?

I don't have one but am in the market as well. I had to use a coworker's one time and it got the CTS fired right up. Made me realize how much it would suck if I needed it up at the cabin and didn't have one haha.

Noco is a good brand. Get at least the 45 so you have plenty of capacity. I think that’s the one I purchased.

100 is a little much.

How are these little battery packs able to jump vehicles? How can it give it enough?

No more than a new battery for your car. Lot of underpowered ones out there. Project farm on YouTube does a thorough review. Get a good one that lasts and can boost any vehicle you come across. That includes diesels.

Mine works flawlessly

My noco stopped taking a charge after 2 years. I stored it in the basement because apparently, these things can't handle the heat so you can't really leave them in the car over the summer. Read the fine print before you buy.

Finally bought one. I told jeff that I wish tool batteries would make one as that’s the most complaints in Amazon that the jump packs would not hold a charge or lie that they had one and not work. Well why not make the battery swappable? So I was so hesitant to get a cheaper pack. It was not even 2 days later ryobi announced theirs. This isn’t the battery’s I use but the wife also wants a cordless glue gun and so this works out.

I should add, some great YouTube videos about it. Watched one guy show a 454 with a battery that has .2v on it. They used this thing twice in a row off of it and it started up. He also took it apart and showed what made it work. I wish it had a usb charger on it just because if it’s gonna be in a car it might help to charge your phone if you need it. But we are just splitting hairs.

I have ryobi and milwaukee so might look into this. I want to pick up some other tools soon anyway. Like power ratchets and low profile drills.

Ryobi also makes a hand held tire pump. One you pull the trigger on type of deal. I’ve wanted one of those for a while. I will prob pick it up as well. They have a combo deal that I might but it’s an about double.

I don’t either. So I was hesitant. Also, how often do you need a jump pack vs the cost is high. Hell you can get a new battery for this cost. So is it cost effective. Nope. But I also will not be buying something that goes bad and I just have to throw away.

I don’t see any other tool batteries making these. I hope they do though.

probably has a lot to do with current draw. I doubt those batteries are made to be discharged that quickly. Its a lot of energy all at once.

Forgot to update this.. I bought one back when I had the CTS just to have something for cabin trips since it is in the middle of nowhere. Actually had to use it a time or two to get it started before I traded it in hah.
