I did a thing, a very PURPLE thing.

Post by Toni »

So two weeks ago I went down to visit Hans and Em and go to a big cars and coffee at the Bethlehem steel stacks. Em brought her amethyst VR4, I brought the Spyder. Somehow it came up that another purple VR4 was on sale from some YouTube guy. I vaguely recall seeing it at one point months ago. It was on ebay and didn't meet reserve for ~11k. I jokingly said that I could probably sell a few guns and not paint the stealth hurr hurr. This is the moment where I fucked around and found out. Hans msged them and it was still for sale, offered to pick it up and sort it out. I had just gotten Friday off and a shotgun purchase I just bought fell through (was LH not RH).

It's got a bunch to work through to get it up to snuff. Some mechanical some restoration. While down at the shop, I picked up a bunch of 96 conversion parts to eventually bring it back to factory body

Wheels are for sale in case anyone is wondering. They look just as bad in person

Anyone recognize the car lol?

I love that color. I'd get the wheels powdercoated a different color and leave the rest alone. It looks like a quality 99 conversion.
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

I'd don't really love the wheels themselves on top. Not a fan of going aftermarket coating on brand new wheels. Plus I have another set of Volk GT-Cs on the ready lol. Going down next weekend to get the car and bringing down a set to try them on. I bet will it will be tits.

According to Hans, a few owners ago had an insurance claim and got all new factory 99 parts for it, meaning it's an OEM wang. I'm planning to leave it all on to enjoy for a bit but I still want to stock up on restoration parts to have them ready.

It does look good as a 99 conversion, but I also fully understand wanting to put somthing that rare back to stock.

99 Conversions weren't that difficult on 2g cars though were they? Probably the hardest thing was sail panels?

While they look better than the yellow wheels, I've never been a huge fan of thinner spokes on 3S. Just me of course but I think these cars look better with single 5 spokers. Errbody got their taste but nobody can argue these yellow are :puke:

here is what the car previously looked like with ADR Kasais
