The more I think about it, I think a nice Porsche might be worth it for you guys. Not too expensive compared to other options, usually reliable since been making them forever as well.

If you don't care about reliability that much, jaguar f-type

Once upon a time, Vira wanted an F-Type.

Wow that needs some serious love
If the engine has popped it can be pricey to fix, but if its just something minor causing the misfire then that and a new soft top could make it at least driveable. The AP1 is very pesky and requires the piss wrung out of it to actually have fun. The car is borderline sluggish and boring if you aren’t flogging it, so it’s not much of a top down cruiser imo.

I forgot about it being a torqueless wonder down low. Might be better to leave it for someone who's more passionate about those cars.

I know you’ll probably say no, but really a Miata is the easiest, cheapest most reliable way to see if you really want to have a convertible. You can get a pretty nice NC (3rd gen RX8 based) for your budget.

Vira thinks they're too small. Otherwise I'd be willing to entertain it.

Ap1 drives like a stock civic until you get the revs up. It's really no big deal. You're not gonna be trying to run it hard from 2k anyways.

I'd at least look at an NC 06-14. They are much bigger than other Miata’s, you can get them with a power folding hard top. It’s still at least a cheap way to see if you really want the top down experience or not. If you enjoy it then sell it for something bigger and more interesting.

We did have a Spyder for a while. So we know what it's like to have a convertible.

True. I thought about that, but didn't know how much you got to enjoy the convertible aspect of it though.
