F*CK I hate my mower

Every year. Every year I think it’s gonna be okay and then not. Last year, two laps in…dies in the yard.

This year, 3 mows in….and then this.

Trying to start the mower.....will not crank. Battery all the way charged. Go and tighten bolts that connect stuff. Get it to start turning over. Turn off key switch. Still cranking over. Let off safety switch. Still cranking over. Pull fuses...still cranking over. Smoke coming starter at this point. Unhook positive connector...stops.

What actually broke? Starter relay? Safety switch and key switch?

Add on that I let the yard go as it was gonna rain and I was waiting till after the rain. Then some stuff. Now it’s bad and I go to mow and it starts raining while I’m trying to figure this out.

I go through the same shit with my riding mower. Can’t wait to get an ego and out it by the fucking road.

Gotta be the relay. But the starter smoking pisses me off. It might be toast.

Replaced the solenoid….nothing. I guess I get to put a test light on the starter to see if it’s getting power.

It’s the starter. I managed to get it going last week but it just will not turn over. I thought maybe if it were easier then it might so I took the plugs out. That really has nothing to do with it but it still didn’t even try. Did the old hammer trick to get it to turn. Nope. Tried to take it off to test it…too hot to even touch.

Ordered another.

Starter fixed it. Man, I don’t know if it ever spun over that quick before. Started up way quicker.

Anyways. While mowing I saw bits of a belt. Lol. So I need to change that before I mow again.

Pivot bearing on the deck for the mower belts has left the building. Lol. This mower!!!! Gonna get drove in the lake.

Small belt, ends in 57. So when I measured what I took off it was 58…so okay 57 sounds right. Nope. No way. Not even close. So there was a wasted trip to rural king.

What was the full PN? What did you buy?

Right Blade belt - 483157, Left (main) deck belt - 483243, Pump Belt - 483172

Are the part numbers. I finally found that it’s a 65” belt. So maybe I can go get the right one.

Those are SCAG part numbers and have nothing to do with belt length...

Scag doesn’t list their length. So I had to measure and guess. I had 58 on the belt so I thought 57 would work as it was bottoming out.

It was also not thick enough which messes with it.

Get a 7185BR and a 6785BR for your deck belts (this is what I sent you if I remember right)

You sent me the long one. Working great still. But is has a side one. I don’t think I ever got that one you said they were working on the shorter one at the time IIRC.

Got the belt on. Right size.

As I was doing it, a wasp nest had built under the deck. Like I am amazed I didn’t get stung. I was running and dodging and in sandals on a hill. Ducking mower.
