Why not a forester?

Post by Duck Vader »

So wife is probably finally going to trade in her kia. Right now the forester wilderness is the top of her list.

But what else should she consider if going new?

AWD, sunroof, good cargo room, reliable, easy to get in/out, 3 dogs so easy to clean, comfortable for long trips. She will be routinely driving back and forth to Spokane and Portland (400 miles round trip) about 2x a month.

It is but I didn't see that as a restriction.

I might just be a smartass though

I still vote for a Honda crv. A little higher so depending on dogs it might not be as easy to load though.

I wouldn't put Subaru and reliable in the same sentence.

The modern ones are quite reliable. We have almost 100k on ours and the biggest problem we have had with it was the flex section of the cat broke and leaked. Consumer Reports has every model except for the WRX on its best buy list.

Toyota Corolla Cross? I don't know much about them. A coworker has one and likes it. Says it gets really good gas mileage.

RAV4 could also be an option if you need more room.
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

my folks have a later model rav4 (2019 I think) with the turbo engine. It's a nice ride, plenty peppy and plenty of room. I don't care for the looks all that much. I like the previous gen a little better.

I really like the rav4. Modern Subarus are boring.

Brother in law bought one. Lower miles. Not 5k miles into owning it he had to put a ac compressor on it and something else was wrong.

Coop
Bought a used car and had to repair something? Did I get that right?

What's the history prior to his purchase? No chance it could have caught a rock and punctured the condenser then be poorly repaired?

Basically cars are machines. Everybody will know someone that has had a failure of some sort. My transmission went out on my Infiniti a couple months after I purchased it. Lost reverse. Had 90k miles. I did a fluid service on it at 70k before I owned it. Shit happens.
