It worked before painting. Just silver isn’t correct. I almost painted red, then black, and then some sand paper. I don’t want it to stand out honestly. Just want it there and work. I almost even cut off the one, had it welded back and covered it with the coupling.

But started it, got it nice and warm…no leaks.

Ordered the rest of the stuff I needed today.

Some of the fluid is so thick that they said they have to keep it inside or it will not pour. They said you can actually cut it with scissors. Lol. I bought one of those and one of the thinner. I will prob use a little of each in the trans and rear end.

Also the por15 degreaser is good stuff it’s cleaning the gas tank right now. I’m also gonna go with some actual carb cleaner. That stuff you dip a carb down into. But will not leave it in for a week like I do this degreaser.

Friday I honestly hope to be just about done. If they have us studying for promotional stuff I’m bringing in the model A. I got a big shop vac that I can just throw away. So I can tape some pvc onto it and really suck out anything that’s broken loose. Then maybe one more soak but really then assemble the fuel system, change trans and rear diff oil…then just tires but I will have to wait on the father in law to buy the tires.

You of all people probably already know this, but I'll say it anyway. Make sure there's nothing flammable when you start sucking stuff through a shop vac. There's a slim chance the electric motor could light something off.

I did read that somewhere. Right now the tank has degreaser in it. I prob would not do it if I had something else in it for that reason. I read about people having flame throwers basically. I doubt that but also, no reason to chance it.

Had two tires leaking. Now they arnt. Still need new tires, but this helps when moving.




Can’t get to the baffles, so when I hose it out, I get some stuff. Not a lot but some. But it really is almost ready. Sucks there is a car meet this weekend that the car COULD make it to. But should it?

Did one more carb cleaner sit, then rinse. There are a couple flakes of junk but this thing is clean. The tires hold air. If I would have brought my gear oil pump I would be done.

So Sunday I will bring it in, finish the fuel stuff, and bring fuel to put in. Bring gear oil pump and do the trans and rear diff…..and honestly be done.

Im beyond excited about how well that tank turned out. I will be super exited to be done and hopefully go get the Oldsmobile.

A lot of logistics go into it. One, I didn’t have a place to keep it as we pulled the engine outside to work on the model a. Two, I’m suppose to pick up the kids so my wife can get her hair cut. And three it doesn’t have tags or insurance.

Working on that this morning with the father in law. I was showing him original NY plates. He went right to new ones that are redone to look original. Like dude. This car is cool but not like brand new plate 240 cool. Just get the 30 buck eBay one. Lol.

It would be cool to find a NY dealer tag from 1930’s as that’s correct to the car. It doesn’t seem as easy as a eBay search though. Found older NY dealer tags but non that said they were 1930ish.

Working on getting tags for the model a. Since it was a dealer car it didn’t have one. So I thought it would be cool to put dealer tags back on. But it wasn’t a simple Google or eBay search. It lead me to some people who are hard core license plate collectors.

Gah. Where to start.

First. Now using the original gas tank and lines. So that’s good. Also the tires are holding air. That’s good. Like over 2 weeks, plenty of air pressure.

The model a starts and runs great. Runs as long as you want. But if you shut it off….you arnt getting it restarted. It loses spark. It’s so frustrating. I even talked to one of the famous YouTubers about it. Coil is all they could come up with. Freaking old guys who complain about young people being part changers….are guess what…part changers.

I find this funny. The local napa….has in the store…a 6v coil for the model a. Didn’t have to order it. Has it. Like I get having something that many vehicles use. But come on….they can’t be selling many of those coils.

So little update on the model A. The car will run great when we have spark. Spark is coming and going, we thought with heat but it’s not. It can even do it when running then run ruff and even cause some backfires. With it being a different power system (positive ground instead of negative ground) it gets interesting. We were taking stuff apart and cleaning everything as making contact is always needed. None of that seemed to help. So we ran a wire from the distributor to the positive side of the coil. Then negative to the battery. This bypasses the entire ignition to see if that’s the problem. Still had weak spark. So we need to still go from the distributor to the negative side of the batter to make sure it’s grounding. It sucks as the problem comes and goes and not gone all the way. But it’s just something to keep plugging away to find.

Two other things, at some point the generator will need to get rebuilt. It’s not putting anything out. I havnt researched a lot of who and cost yet.

Second. There is some seepage from the head. The gasket might have just deteriorated over time. This isn’t a hard thing to fix and not expensive but something that I need to tackle at some point. I’m gonna wait till it’s running right though. Also it may just burning off something old and be fine. Some time will tell. Attaching a video of what it is.
