So they look pretty factory cuts,

I’ve never seen material never over on the sides on factory stuff. Also look how the angle is on the bottom.

The top is cut as well.

Also I have a bunch of speed bleeders left over from the avalanche when I did its rear brakes. None of them come close. The Silverado is the short one.

Just interesting. Jeff did find some pictures off rock auto of cuts that look like this. It’s also so new that I doubt anyone actually did this for something. I just want to make sure I buy full pads.

That's how the stock pads are. Just get the Powerstops which are full face pads, and stop trying to figure out why the OEM did stuff like that, it's not worth it. It's likely it was done for some reason, maybe to make the rotor last longer or something like that etc. but it's not worth thinking about it when full coverage pads are available.

It's the same for the EvoX pads. They are technically 1001A pads, and they are slightly thicker, and have a relief cut on one corner. Not sure the reasoning behind it, but it doesn't matter anyway.

And thousands of bean counters also went over it looking for places to save 2 cents per vehicle

No where close to 1000s of people went over that...I'd say 20-30 people max were involved in the design of the brake pad/braking system.

Well…..had a heck of a morning. Youngest puked in her car seat, so had to take everything apart and wash it. Those things are more complicated than someone else’s project 3/s.

Was gonna test fit the caliper, only to find out the wheels were way over torqued from the tire place. So that took a while. And being a Chevy there is a fair amount of rust. So I just put back in the wheel and will test fit another day seeing as I am towing with the avalanche tomorrow and don’t want to make it so I don’t get to work on the model A.

Well…don’t think they will work with my current wheels. Looks like if I wanted better brakes I just need to go a generation up or get better pads with a fresh set of rotors.

I would need at least an inch spacer and seeing as that’s not really don’t I would need a 2 inch to be able to cover the wheel studs and if have it’s own studs.

Then the upper bolt that hooks the brake line…yeah I’m pretty sure it was out there for a reason…..so you couldn’t use even most 18” wheels.

Anyone want these for any reason before I throw them back on eBay?
