Of course. It’s gonna have a smell. This smell you could smell outside his garage, outside the trailer. It attached to clothes.

Did you clean out all the dust and whatever other unwanted stuff from it? I'd think you would have to get rid of the stuff causing the odors before you can sanitize.

Fair point. Wash and vacuum it out first.

There is nothing in it, and I wanna make sure I use the right stuff on almost 100yr old original interior.

Suggestions?

I'd be asking on Model A forums about this car. I for sure would have no clue what to use or what not to use on something that old.

I did ask, but just when I did think to pull it out and put the ozone in the car but a wash outside and possibly inside at the same time.

Still smells. Taking the model A to work Sunday. Got some baking soda and going to go to town cleaning and vacuuming. If I have time I might try and get a door panel off and try to see why the windows will not roll down.

The smell was mothballs. I saw them, but never really dealt with them to know. So that’s out and I vacuumed it. It’s now airing out in the engine bay.

Lots of fun just crawling around it. Got 3 of the 4 windows to work, the 4th has a broken hand crank. Got the windshield to open. Did a lot of digging to figure out what to do with the fuel system. I wish I could just put a bladder.

Anyways, fireman stayed for an hour and half in the morning helping unload it. Next time we will use a mower to help pull out. But it was also a pain as I couldn’t get to the steering wheel because of the window. Now the window down we can. So that will help. Everyone that comes by can’t believe how well it’s together. Leather over the rear springs are what a lot can’t get over. It’s been fun. Just crawling over it, learning, and looking. Good stuff.

Okay round 3 with the ozone but really round 2 since I didn’t know about the mothballs. So hopefully this will be the last time before it comes to the house.

I’ve gotten a couple ideas on how to clean out the gas tank. I think I will do that at the fire hall as it’s open and it’s very very smelly. So much that even when doing it that it takes over. So prob one last trip to the fire station.

Going to get a battery, oil, and belt. Going to run it off of another fuel source and see if the generator works, water pump works, radiator leaks, and figure out all of that while I work on this gas tank.

Yes, 100%. It’s actually already fixed, just not pictured. Those things that look like switches…they are actually brass odd nuts.

I have two tubes that leak. I want to fix them, not because I am driving it soon but because even when showing or working it looks so broken down all leaned over. Lol.

I think double-clutching all the upshifts would drive me insane. Not to mention having R be where 1st is. I'd be yelling at myself constantly.

Starting it is crazy but apparently they start super easy. So I’m looking forward to that. The grinding would get old to me. It’s not what I wanna drive. It’s just a means to get a cool Oldsmobile.

It's just like old Ferrari's and Lambos though! Dog leg box, because when racing you hardly use 1st. But I doubt that's what Ford had in mind with the Model A

Okay. Small update.

Lots of the levers were frozen. The timing level, the gas level, the choke, and enrichment were all froze

Got all those working today. Some just needed wd40, some needed taking apart and put back together.

Then, in went a battery. Here is the old.

Image

Then we got to have some fun. For some reason the horn and stater video didn’t upload sound.

Love the old school horn. Also the starter works.

It has really weak spark. Prob the capacitor. Tried to file the points and contacts. They weren’t bad but tried. Actually prob got it out of electrical time when taking off the part below the rotor but to replace the capacitor I would have to find top dead center (have to find the spot in the cam…not fun but not bad) so no big deal overall.

We did spray some starter fluid in and try to get it to start. And while the inside was as clean as it could be the exhaust wasn’t. There was a lot more but this was the picture I took.

Image

Anyways. Prob gonna do a distributor and just call it a day.
