It's pretty obvious yours was a typo from, but they have no incentive to give a fuck because people just keep paying them, and their fine print says they can't guarantee the accuracy of their sources.

For all I know mine were both the same incident and they pulled it from two different sources that filed it differently.

I had the bumper off to install the spoiler. I even took the impact absorber off when I did the camera upgrades. There was ZERO sign of any damage or repairs. Everything on this car is glued and welded together. If it had had structural damage, the repairs would have been obvious.

I can't say with certainty that the rear fascia was original, but I had no reason to check for that either.

The spoiler was at least original. I've got photos that show the sticker with the date stamp.

Could be as simple as a broken tail light too…that’s what I hate about CarFax. Same shit happened when I was selling cars. People get so nit picky over what the CarFax says. If you want a car with a perfect history, buy a new fucking car, not a used one.
Carfax is a joke. Subaru I picked up a couple years ago had a "odometer rollback" warning or whatever it was.

Mileage reported over a few years...
35k
39k
42k
492k
53k

I was selling it with around 55k iirc. Got called out on that thanks to carfax. Asked if they actually looked at the reported mileage. "Oh." Lost more than a couple possible sales thanks to that.
My VR-4 was like that. An emissions check at 40 something thousand miles got misread as 90 something thousand. Fortunately I had the original document to ward people off about it.

1 Odometer discrepancy is small beans compared to a reported accident on your car.

Found the original Autocheck report from Carmax. It was clean. :grumble:

I don't think it matters though. Guy from Texas seems serious. My first instinct was scam though. Wants to send a cashiers check. BUT...

He's got a solid Facebook history. Family photos, and a ton of cars. Almost all Corvettes. A lot of them are being loaded on trailers. I kind of think he's a dealer of some sort.
He will send me the check, and I send him nothing until the check clears.
He's provided references to other people who have sold to him, and contact info for his bank.
He's provided his eBay info, and his forum membership goes back to 2006.
He also offered to send me a wire, but my bank account type has a pretty low limit for receiving wires.

It sounds weird and too good to be true, but I think he might be for real. As long as the check clears, and I mean actually clears rather than that one day soft clear they do, then this should be little to no risk for me, right? I'll have the car, the title, and the money. Once I know the money is real, I release the car.

What am I missing here?

It's his dream Vette. He's not returning it. It's 1 of 53. The chances of finding another one, and at the price he got his are basically 0.

If this goes wrong I'm just going to be done with 'toy' cars for good.

What is your definition of a cluster

It seems like it's a pretty big cluster already. Paperwork issues with the new Vette, unknown damage history on the old Vette...Still will be more than worth it in the end though!

Its a cluster already, but its not a cluster with a Vette headed back to SF. I was being facetious.
