I've never cleared the title on any of mine. Never had an issue with selling them either.

Buyer should be able to take in the title and lien release letter and transfer without any issues.

The buyer did that when we sold the Mazda. But that was a significantly smaller cash transaction, and they were local. The most expensive car I've sold was my Audi, and I ended up just flipping that at Carmax. I think they cut me a check on the spot, and of course I didn't have to worry about it being legit.

I think as long as the new owner has the lien release it should be fine regardless of how much the transaction is.

Lien release letter?

Don't think I ever got that. Just got the title. I'll have to double check to see if it's in the envelope with the title.

In MO (and MI) we get the physical titles right from the start, but they have the lienholder listed on the front along with our names.

Interesting. In CA the bank holds the title until it's paid off. Then the submit the release to the DMV and your title shows up in the mail a few weeks later.

Bank held mine too. Got it in the mail with the bank listed as lienholder but stamped when I paid it off.

Same for here. Banks hold title then they stamp/sign off on the title itself when paid off and give you the title. So I have the titles but have the lien release signed on them. I'll just get WA titles when I move.

Aaand Vira got the first wax question.

It has bumper to bumper Xpel PPF on it. That's one of the selling points. :grumble:
