Couple thoughts here.

When Vira bought her SQ5, she got a Kansas temp tag. Carmax is in Kansas.

If I had flown out to San Diego and drove this thing home, wouldn't they have given me a California tag?

Why can't they just do that?

They should be able to issue you one but I'm sure they'd have to overnight FedEx it.

Also I still don't understand why the CA plates are not on the car anymore. Unless the registration expired while shift owned the car the plates stay on the car. Then when you register it in MO and get your plates you're supposed to send the plates back to the CA DMV.

Their own website, the printed docs I received, and the statements from my sales rep (on the calls he was constantly reminding me were recorded) all told me they could give me a MO tag.

https://support.shift.com/hc/en-us/arti ... gistration

I don't care if they have to FedEx me a CA tag, as long as it makes the car legal while I wait for the final paperwork to go through. I could go get the inspection without it, but I don't want the car to be parked for the weeks or longer it'll take for them to sort out the registration.

I just sent them another email stating that I need to see significant progress on this in the next 24 hours, or they can come get the car and unwind the deal. It's mostly bluffing at this point, but not completely.

I don't know how the registration could have expired. When I talked to the previous owner, he said the car had only been picked up a few days prior. That was on March 29th.

Well when you are done you need to write this up on BBB or Google reviews. Stupid.

BBB is a complete waste of time. Google review is better.

Wonder if there's any legal means to move this along

I got my RS in Tennessee, and they gave me a temp TN tag for the drive back.

My good friend both an F150 from Texas and they shipped it here. I need to find out what 5th did for him. I think he had a temp TX tag too?

So annoying, but it’ll be worth it in the end!

I think I'm finally getting somewhere. It's not where I want to be, but it's progress.

They still won't address why I didn't get a CA tag or anything else. I think it comes down to lack of mutually signed documents. All the loan stuff was electronic, but that's not an option for the state stuff.

They now say they can get me a MO tag. I don't know why they've given me such contradictory info, and why nobody was able to just explain this from the beginning. It's convoluted, but it at least makes sense.

Anyway, they need the MO VIN/odometer inspection to get a temp tag. That's in line with what I found if I was to get my own temp tag.

I get the car inspected and send back the doc packet. They get the temp tag within a couple business days and send it to me. The clock starts on my 7 days to decide if I want to return the car. Once that passes, then they do the final title transfer and registration.

So I'm going to try to get it inspected this weekend. The GM chain nearby is booked until next week, and the oil change place stopped doing them. I'll figure something out.

They said they'll reimburse me if I get it towed, so at least there's that. I also mentioned that the battery is on its last legs, so I'm going to get to get them to replace that too. But that'll come later. Doesn't give me a lot of faith in their 150 point inspection though. Once I can actually drive it, I'll make my own conclusions about the condition.

I'm still pretty pissed off, but it's not as bad as it was.

I've had the white car for over 4 years. Why are all the lame New Balance cracks only coming now?

Probably due to the following:

-You kept that first purchase more on the down low...initially.
-That sweet avatar
-Owning now a 2nd current generation Vette = Consistency and not a fluke.
-You are an older man and the jokes are that much more relevant.
-Because BAWC. :ick:
