Your Vehicle of Choice For an Epic Road Trip

Post by aaronatstate »

From the shout discussion earlier, what would be your top three vehicles of choice for an epic road trip like Jason is about to embark on.

Let's say the road trip would be 5,000 to 6,000 miles of driving over 3-4 weeks to make it more of an enjoyable trip.

For me I think they'd have to be from mild to wild:
  1. New Mustang Mach 1 with the handling package
  2. Audi RS6 Avant
  3. Ferrari 488 Pista Spider

1. Lexus LC500
2. RS6 Avant
3. Lexus LX, for side trips off the pavement. No overlanding or hard core wheeling.
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

I have to agree with the RS6 Avant. Beyond that I want something comfortable that can soak up miles. I'd probably also look at a boring high end F150 with the 36 gallon tank. Another pie in the sky option is whatever the current GT Bently Coupes.

I think I need a little more info. City to city staying in hotels? Or forest to forest camping or cabin?

You SAID 'vehicle'. :p

Whenever you use forceful and overt verbal persuasion to try to convince others to see things your way, they're probably not listening to what you say, Instead they're looking for every error in you your logic and mistakes in your facts, all the while constructing counterarguments. Worse still, they don't merely believe you're wrong; they need you to be wrong in order to protect the status quo. And since the final judge exists in their own head, you lose every time. - The Influencer

You can do either, or both. Since different vehicles would suit each differently. Obviously my 3 were based on strictly road driving with staying in hotels or other accomidations.

I know, that's why I asked which cars as well.

1. I drove ~2,000 miles from ID to GA and then the same distance back 2 months later in a 99 Jetta with no cruise control back in 2015. Work paid for the gas plus wear & tear. I'd do it again.
2. The Dodge minivan work had
3. Any rental work pays for that's not a Ford Ecosport.
All gave some, some gave all.

I never use cruise control. I wish it would see a hill coming, add 1/2mph then let it drop 2/3mph from the set for a possible total of 5mph, instead of dropping a gear to hold exactly 65mph.
