Same as what you have, right? And you have the towing gears? Sounds about right. If he had the 6.2 then I'd expect him to do a lot better.

Ya, towing package, 3.73, limited slip, plus as mentioned a couple of goodies. But he should have 60 hp on me stock. I doubt after 17 years and 160k miles mine was putting down stock numbers even before the extras.

I need to get this on a dyno. See what it actually is doing.

He should have had you but the tune and shift likely helped.

Doing just the trans work on my Lincoln was good for .2 in the 1/4.

I'm faster than my wife's Kia. At least to about 60. Same scenario as the one against the truck. At a red light. It turned green. We both took off. I had her by a truck length before I hit 2nd, after 2nd I was way ahead. Lol.

Still need long tubes though

I've decided. Next time they go on sale I'll pick up some arh headers.

There are a lot cheaper alternatives but not the same fit, finish, or quality.

Good idea. Anytime we get a customer asking for the best headers they can buy we tell them arh or kooks. They look sat the price, promptly shit themselves, and buy hedman.

Then they bitch about leaks and poor fitment.

Arh is one of the cheapest that come with high flow cats to keep emissions in check as well.

High flow cars are a thing of the past.

They are a huge benefit on an old GM with a pellet cat but compared nearly any new OEM cat they're not worth the cost. Until you're making big power stock cats are more than enough. You may pick up a few hp, at best, but at the cost of a much lower efficiency converter.

It's not so much about power. It's about staying emissions compliant without having to have something custom built. They offer the y pipe with cats.

Plus long run might be looking at a supercharger.

That said I'm torn between 1 3/4 and 1 7/8 headers.

If you're planning on 700+ go 1 7/8

My Cobra had 1 3/4 making 500 to the wheels. IIRC they didn't see much of a benefit from bigger primaries until 700s.

Not going that much. Long term thinking 500 rwhp target. Price between the two is less than $200 I think.

Part of me wonders if worth picking up a 5.3 with lower mileage and rebuild/overhaul it over the next few years as time and money allows then toss it in the truck or chevelle when I get one depending on what's already in it.

If you're gonna do that might as well make it a 6.0

This. If I could find a fairly cheap one with the right trans I would prob buy it and have the same thing, both gone through and made right over a couple years.

Harder to find. Plus if 6.0 I'd want the 4l80e behind it.

Might be easier to just find an old truck, remove them, and part out the rest.

Developed a slow leak from one of the tires. About 10 psi a month for the last couple of months. Bringing it in to Costco to have them take a look since they installed them. Guessing a bad bead or perhaps valve stem.

Post the exact cam.

I have a comp xe258hr (iirc) in my exploder and I love it. It's a fairly high lift with emphasis on the exhaust side. Night and day difference. I'm contemplating redoing it for a bit more duration and pull back a little on the lift (currently .533/.544) for some spring longevity and just to see what a change would do. As it is I'm at the limits of the gt40p heads on the lift side for flow. The rate tapers off around .540 so I'd like to see what more duration and lift peaking in the meat of port flow volume does.
