Pretty sure there's nothing else in that area that'd be filled with thick goopy stuff :d ontknow: it's not abnormal for bushings to be fluid filled.

It's very unusual for suspension bushings to be fluid filled.

Very normal for mounts in static positions to be.

Could it be the rubber breaking down from getting hot and and being old?

I have no idea but no one in the Subaru group seemed surprised it was leaking. There's nothing else around it that can leak :d ontknow:

It's super thick and goopy but not like axle grease from the cv joints plus they are further forward.

I’ve seen a goo in them before...well more like a softer rubber? Maybe it broke down? Maybe it was hollow and held water?

Maybe the subi group is trying to figure out how to vape that shit? Or maybe they did and lost brain cells?

The world is a crazy place, we may never know.

I've seen that goo on that particular bushing before. I just considered it was a silicone grease to prevent squeaking. I've never seen excess play in one.

Went out and double checked its definitely from the bushing. And I picked up new OE ones they don't have silicone on them.

When I swapped the front bushings on my stealth, they had water that had gotten in the broken down rubber. Could be that.

They wouldn't. Prothane and es come dry but they explicitly state to use the grease.

So are they liquid filled?

Yep they are definitely liquid filled and the right one was torn. I replaced both and both outer tie rod ends.

I've seen some of those filled with a gel to reduce vibration.
