Got it basically done took it to the local car wash. Hopefully it sets all the readiness monitors for emissions. I'm also going to have to take it to the shop I had rebuild the transmission since it pops out of 3rd gear.

I talked to the shop and he thinks it's going to have to come out and be opened up again. It sounds like he's willing to do the work for free including dropping the transmission.

That's pretty good for a carry out trans.
I fully expected them to go in and fix it but if they're covering R&R too that's impressive.

Took it for a little bit longer drive today even though it's still on a non-op and got the cat readiness monitor to set that was the last one I needed to get it through emissions!
The more I drive in the south the more I am all for this.
Drivers here in the south are absolutely terrible. Arkansas has some of the worst. I found out the reason a few years ago though when some co-workers kids were hitting driving age. There is ZERO required formal training in Arkansas. Pass a written test to get your permit, drive with your parents for a bit, take a joke of a road test, and get your license. You can even get a "hardship" license that lets you drive to school/work and back at FOURTEEN years old.
In Michigan we had to take a formal class (classroom and driving) in the summer that was 12 days long I think. Then after you passed that test and a written you got your permit that you could drive with a parent, but not at night at all. Then the following fall you had to take a second class (no driving). When you passed this you could get your level 2 permit, which allowed you to drive alone during the day, and with a parent at night. Finally you had to take a driving class with an approved instructor that was very intensive including questions during the drive, and a full parking demonstration requirement. After all of that, you could get your license.
It boggles my mind the shear lack of training that is required to get a drivers license in most states in the south.
