Vehicle list

Post by DCIV »

Finally talked the wife into test driving multiple vehicles before we buy.

Really want an suv, 4 wheel drive/all wheel drive, and 3rd row seating. Would prefer something with a dealership in town as it will be under warranty.

Top of the list is a Tahoe but I found a 4Runner with a 3rd row and she has always loved 4runners so gonna add that.

Tahoe
4Runner
Explorer (does this have a 3rd row?)
Acadia

What else?

How about something slightly softer like a GMC Acadia?

Good call because ideally the smaller the better in my opinion. Not for gas, just for ease of driving.

Neighbor has an Acadia and keeps taking it in the shop for repairs.

I’ll throw Acura MDX in the mix. Wife loves hers.

I’ve heard that about acadias as well but under warrenty I don’t care.

Does the Acura have 3rd row? If so I didn’t know that.

Explorer has a 3rd row. It's not terrible for adults either, especially if you have the captains chairs in the second row, because the 2nd row is on sliders.

Also the Chevy Traverse has a 3rd row. GM made the Acadia slightly smaller this last time around (it used to be the same size as the Traverse), so keep that in mind.

My old boss is on her second (or third? Not sure) Acadia and has had zero issues with it and absolutely loves it. I always found the car to be quite comfortable. She had the captain's chairs in second row.

As usual - your mileage will vary depending on who you ask.

Yeah, I forget when they changed the size I think was 2015? Still a nice car even after the redesign, just smaller size than previous.

Yup. Latest 2020 model. The third row folds down flat to give you a lot of cargo space.

It was 2017 actually. Since it moved from full size to mid size crossover, you are definitely going to have less room in a 2017 or newer Acadia than you will in any other full size crossover like an Explorer, Traverse, etc.

Captions chairs is something we would like as it makes using the 3rd row actually easy, especially with car seats. But not a total deal breaker.

What’s the explorer tow? Is there an ecoboost option? Hoping it’s much like the f150

I promised her she would never have to dive a mini van I’d she didn’t want to. While it would be a smart move, I’m not gonna do that to her.

Booo. Knock on wood, I’ve been having better luck out of my Ford’s than my chevys though.

FYI captains chairs in the 2nd row do not make it any easier to access the 3rd row. We ended up getting the center counsel for the Explorer in the 2nd row because it was useless to get the 3rd row between the 2nd row.

Really? Been a while since I was in the Acadia with the captains chairs but could have sworn that was how we went into 3rd row..

The pre 2017 Acadia it is possible, even in our Explorer is was doable, but it was much easier to push the button that folded the second row captains chair down to get back there, that's for sure. Plus with the way the pre 2020 Explorers were, there were no center arm rests, unless you had the center counsel which was really annoying.

If you want to tow more than 5000lbs you basically need an Expedition/Tahoe/Yukon.
