Re: It's finally done
Everything is done. He is doing a final test drive tonight and I should have it back soon. Then once I need to refill the tank, I'll fill it with 92, swap in the cai and, and get it tuned.

Cai is installed as well as a base 87 tune. Going to drive it for a bit and in a couple hundred miles I'll get some logs and get a custom tune based on my driving habits and mods.

Re: It's finally done
Finally switched the subs between the xj and truck tonight. I know it's ghetto but it works until I get a better box.

Re: It's finally done
I hope you put this thing in a dyno after all your mods so you can see the teens of HP you’ve gained.

I'd be curious to see but it's more about driveability than hp. Exhaust, intake, tune, transmission work. Better shifts, longer transmission life, better mpg, better acceleration, etc.

Re: It's finally done
Should be able to get my final data log tonight and get my tune set up this weekend/early in the week next week. Then need to run that tune for a couple of weeks and do one final data log check. The canned tune has been OK. Feels better but the trans actually shifts a bit too hard for my liking. The custom tune will adjust that and get better fuel trim ratio. It is running a bit rich right now.

This is pretty much the exact same plan I have for our truck.Jason wrote:I'd be curious to see but it's more about driveability than hp. Exhaust, intake, tune, transmission work. Better shifts, longer transmission life, better mpg, better acceleration, etc.
I've never seen a sub box that looks like a pancake. That's pretty interesting.
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

That sub box is actually designed to sit in the back of the Jeep XJ into one of the side compartments. I just screwed it to the floor of the truck.

Also, after the CAI install. So much better sounding. Has an even nicer growl now when combined with the 3" magnaflow cat back.
Re: It's finally done
I saw your comment in Coop's thread about upgrading your cluster. I can get one cheap and rebuild / upgrade it if you're not worried about having the trans temp gauge.

Re: It's finally done
I don't care about the trans temp gauge. I could always install an external one if I end up towing a lot. I just would like my odometer and gear selection to be brighter is all. I am good with the rest of it.
Re: It's finally done
Let me see how difficult it is to swap the stepper motors on Coop's cluster and then we can discuss it.

I have a feeling its gonna be pretty easy. But I have a way of thinking things are easy then they turn out hard.

Quick little phone edit.
Paint wheels dark gray. Yes or no?

Either way looks good. The lighter wheel color goes with your nerf bars but gunmetal wheels always look good.

Ya. The wheels are not in the greatest shape. So debating on sanding them down and painting them. Something just seems off about them though.
