All you 'no underbody rust' guys...how long are you keeping these things?
Sure, I'll probably have my VR4 until it's 30yrs old.
but I'm not feeling like we want to keep this more than 5-10.

Whenever you use forceful and overt verbal persuasion to try to convince others to see things your way, they're probably not listening to what you say, Instead they're looking for every error in you your logic and mistakes in your facts, all the while constructing counterarguments. Worse still, they don't merely believe you're wrong; they need you to be wrong in order to protect the status quo. And since the final judge exists in their own head, you lose every time. - The Influencer
Is the level of bullshit you have to go through to change things in a direction you want, less than than or equal than the level of current bullshit?

It's not about longevity so much as it's about the ease of doing repairs. Rusted parts are a pain. Did you see my videos of me working on the Ridgeline? Lots of stuff had to be cut out with a sawzall and then repairs delayed due to waiting on replacement parts.

I don’t think any of us are picking on your new truck. Only sharing observations.

I got 4 years.
Although the way Jeff harasses me for not driving it, I'll probably sell it first.
That said...I really only go to the grocery store and my parents house now.

Funny that. Of the 4 neighbors that can see our house, we only speak to the ones next to us. The older couple thinks it's hilarious and great. They get a kick out of our hobby.
The single lady we don't speak to a lot...but she did just lose her job, so I hope we're not making her feel worse about her situation. In general, I bet she thinks we're crazy.
The couple in the corner are crazy loners that don't keep up their property. F them. And the last couple have 2 (3?) kids and have had their share of bad luck this year with covid. We actually helped our older neighbor buy them groceries. Hope we also aren't making them feel bad...

I like the color. That's about the only good thing I can say about it.
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

Re: Yes, we bought an H3. Deal with it :p
The orange truck finally got to go on a little adventure. It was fun, but wasn't perfect.
The canoe trip was great. It was too cold to swim, but the weather was gorgeous otherwise.

The campground where we were staying has a mud pit down by the river. They run races in it during the summer.

The season was basically over, and nobody was down there. So of course we went to play in the mud. We were just kind of playing around on the edges because there was nobody around who could pull us out if we got stuck.
So, of course....we got stuck

First step, don't panic. Second step, coach Vira through rocking it out of the muck. She kicked ass, and got us unstuck.

There was much childish rejoicing

There was a slight downside to it though. We were about 15 minutes from the end of our ~3hr drive home. We had an appointment to do the paperwork to register the silver truck, since it was on the way. I got off the freeway, and noticed the brakes were a little more squishy than usual. I got under it at a gas station and saw the left front brake line was seeping. The leak was hidden along a portion of the hard line under a rubber isolator.
We were so close to home, I decided to limp it back along some low traffic roads. We made it home just fine. We also still made our appointment at the DMV. So it certainly could have gone a lot worse.
I've now made the decision I'm going to replace all the serviceable brake lines, on both trucks. And I'm going to buy yet another brake bleeding tool in an effort to speed this process along since I now have 4 cars that need it done. Both Hummers, the Mazda, and the Corvette. The VR4 could probably use a flush too.

Damn about the brake lines! Let us know what you get brake fluid swap wise as I end up doing brakes by myself so often that I get speed bleeders just so I can do them alone.
