There's actually two possible downsides. Grand Sport and Z06 wheels are prone to bending and cracking. And the 3LT leather dash has been known to peel back and require a full replacement. GSCEs were all loaded 3LTs. Mine is a 2LT with vinyl dash and doors, so it doesn't have that problem.

There's significant performance benefits to the RS vs the ST though. A Grand Sport vs a Stingray optioned like mine is 98% about looks

I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

Not going to lie.. the wide body makes or breaks the C7 for me..
Re: Jeff's winter Corvette thread.
It's weird. It's not that much wider than mine. Only in the rear at that. The front fenders are the same width. They're just sculpted differently. But between that and the bigger wheels, it just changes the whole stance of the car.

True, but performance benefits aside, a lot of my decision was based on similar aspects to your "dilemma". I wanted the RS for it's rarity, it's cool factor, and its looks compared to the ST as well. I could've gotten my ST up to 330hp pretty easily with a tune and a FMIC (to go along with the exhaust and intake I had). I was always not going to be 100% satisfied with the ST though, knowing I had the means to get an RS.

So i guess it comes down to 20-30K more for a cosmetic upgrade and some interior bits. I get the love, but that is a big chunk for smaller details.

Man you are right, the differences all though subtle do change the whole look of the car.
Did the Grand Sports come with the dry sump system?

Dry sump was standard on Z51 and Grand Sport. The RPO for the Grand Sport package was Z52, so that should tell you something.

I already looked him up. He didn't post jack shit about that car. Most of his C7 posts were in the classifieds section.

If I could find one with the Z07 package, it would have carbon ceramic brakes. They don't seem to command that big of a premium over the non-Z07 cars.

$1,763/rotor replacement cost, plus $1200 for pads. Oof that's a lot for a brake job
($8,200 total)

But they should last the life of the car if I take care of them. I'm going on my 3rd year with my C7 and it still hasn't so much as been to the parking lot of a race track

Only 157 with the Z07 package and manual transmission. Though 157 out of the 184 with the Z07 package did have the manual. (only looking at Coupe)

My preference is coupe + manual + AE4 seats. That got me my list of 53. I never bothered to narrow it down further to Z07 cars.

My count was wrong, only there were only 56 Coupe, M7, Z07 Cars. I had autos in there which was the 156/184 (coupe total).
So, coupe, M7, Z07, AE4 seats, and USA location, it's 26 cars. TWENTY SIX

Re: Jeff's winter Corvette thread.
Are you sure you want Z07? When I was considering waiting for a Z06 instead of getting the Stingray earlier, it seemed like the Z07 package made it more track car and less street car. Lower/bigger front aero that can scrape and catch on things, expensive carbon brakes (which sometimes are not reliable and develop cracks). The suspension spring rates are a lot higher than standard, so on the street you are really going to feel that. Sport Cup 2 tires, which are even stickier than my Z51 tires which already pick up every little object and sand from the road and attempt to fling it around.
I'd personally skip Z07, but that's just my opinion. You can get the carbon brakes separately, but I doubt many people did that since the cost is near the Z07 cost.
